An Odd Candidate
A sports tourer is the last motorcycle anybody should remove ABS from. This part reaches Tracers that have been converted into something else entirely, usually a track hack.
Weigh This Properly
On a bike bought for covering distance in variable weather, ABS is doing real work. If the motorcycle is still used that way, leave the module where Yamaha put it.
The Same CP2
Six hundred and eighty-nine cubic centimetres and a 270 degree crank, shared with the MT-07 and the R7. Yamaha has built a remarkable amount of its range around one engine.
A Fairing and Longer Travel
The Tracer adds bodywork, a screen and more suspension movement to the MT-07 platform. It is the version most people should buy and the one fewest people talk about.
Closing the Loop
The ECU watches for the modulator. This unit provides the expected circuit so nothing is displayed and nothing is logged for a later reader to find.
Five Model Years
The fitment covers 2020 to 2024. Yamaha renamed the Tracer 700 to Tracer 7 in that period without changing the braking hardware.
Reversible
Yamaha's own connector, nothing cut. The module goes back for an inspection with no trace of the intervening period.
Two Hundred and Four Kilograms
Wet, with the fairing and the bigger tank. It is heavier than an MT-07 and still light for a motorcycle that will carry luggage and a passenger.
Bought for Distance
Tracers accumulate mileage rather than track days, which is worth remembering before removing a safety system from one.
Panniers as Standard on Some Versions
Yamaha offered a GT specification with luggage, heated grips and a taller screen already fitted. It is the version that makes the case for the model, and it is the one that shows what the Tracer was actually built to do.
