DescriptionThe whole story▼

The Honda CBR650F is a faired four-cylinder that many owners use as a sports tourer, often with a passenger on the back and a bag strapped to the seat. Extra weight changes how the bike stops, and the front discs take most of the difference. For the CBR650F of 2016 to 2018, Accossato lists the DK230, a floating disc from its Elite line: 320 mm across, as thick as the original at 5 mm, with the friction ring riveted to a black carrier.

Key Features

  • Floating front disc from Accossato's Elite line for the Honda CBR650F, 2016 to 2018
  • 320 mm outside, 210 mm inside, 5 mm thick
  • Thickness equal to the original equipment disc
  • Black carrier with logo-marked rivets
  • Wear limit printed on the disc
  • Sold singly; the CBR650F has twin front discs
  • No German ABE documented; for track use

Construction and Material Quality

Two parts make up the DK230. The friction ring is riveted to a black carrier, and in the Elite line each rivet head bears the Accossato logo. Accossato points to design work informed by Superbike, Moto2 and Moto3 and to its choice of raw materials, and it says the modest weight of its discs benefits steering. The dimensions follow the original disc on the CBR650F: 5 mm thick and 320 mm across, with a 210 mm inner diameter.

Two Up and Loaded

With a passenger aboard, more weight shifts forward the moment you brake, and the front tyre and discs have to deal with it. Stopping distances grow, so the first adjustment is simply to brake earlier and to build the pressure progressively rather than grabbing the lever. Agree with your passenger that they will brace against the tank or hold the grab rail instead of sliding into your back; that keeps the bike steadier in a hard stop. Before a two-up trip, check the discs as well as the tyre pressures and the preload. Both front discs on the CBR650F wear at much the same rate, so if one is near its limit the other usually is too, and renewing them together keeps the brake feeling even from side to side. Accossato gives a clear reason not to push a worn disc further: when it is too thin, extreme stress can make it break.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the DK230 for the CBR650F from 2016 to 2018 and names the ABS version. Earlier CBR650F models from 2014 and 2015 are not part of this listing. One disc is supplied per order, and the bike needs two. Accossato also makes the EDF018 brake lever and the ESH065 clutch lever for the CBR650F.

Road Approval

The DK230 carries no German ABE, and we have no type approval for it. It is sold for closed-circuit use.
