DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Tracer 900, sold in its early years as the MT-09 Tracer, is a sport tourer that many owners share with a passenger. Two people on board change the way a bike brakes: there is more weight to slow down, and the person behind you feels every abrupt input. The Accossato EDF016 is a CNC-machined aluminium brake lever for the Tracer 900, listed from 2015 to 2020, with an adjustable distance to the grip and three blade lengths.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Tracer 900 and MT-09 Tracer, 2015 to 2020
- Mounts on the original front master cylinder
- Reach adjustable to hand and glove
- Long blade for four-finger braking in blue, gold, green or orange
- Standard blade approximately 138 mm
- Machined aluminium, anodised, black hub
- No folding joint: one fixed piece
- Individual Accossato box
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato machines the EDF016 from aluminium using CNC equipment and anodises the finished part, leaving the hub black and the blade in the colour you pick. Machining produces a precise pivot bore and a smooth, consistent blade surface, and the anodised finish copes with years of touring without chipping. The lever is rigid, with no folding mechanism anywhere along its length, so its response is the same on the first morning of a holiday as on the last evening.
Braking for Two
A passenger cannot see what is coming and does not know when you are about to brake. If the lever is grabbed, they slide forward into your back, their helmet may knock against yours, and the extra weight pushes you towards the tank at the very moment you need a steady upper body. Smooth braking prevents all of that. It starts with a lever that sits where your fingers can take up the free travel gently before the pads bite, and then build pressure progressively. On the Tracer 900, set the reach so that the blade rests close to your fingertips when you cover the brake, and consider the long blade, which spreads the effort over four fingers and adds leverage for heavier two-up stops. Before a trip, agree with your passenger how they will brace themselves, for example by holding the grab handles and gripping with their knees when the bike slows. A passenger who is prepared makes the bike far easier to control in a sudden stop, and the ride more pleasant for both of you.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF016 for the Tracer 900 from 2015 to 2020, including the early bikes sold under the MT-09 Tracer name. It replaces the stock lever on the original master cylinder. For the clutch, Accossato lists two levers: the ESV004 for 2015 to 2020 and the ESY688 for 2015 to 2017. The GT version is not named in this listing.
Road Approval
The EDF016 lacks a documented German ABE, and our sale of it is limited to track use.
