DescriptionThe whole story▼
White is the most rational finish on a touring helmet, because touring means unfamiliar roads, unfamiliar drivers and long hours in whatever light the day supplies. A pale shell at head height is the brightest object a rider carries.
Three SHARP stars — and the 50 % you should know about
🔵 The single most important sentence on this page. SHARP tested this helmet in April 2026 and found the chin bar fully locked in half of the impacts. Half.
Context: this helmet carries P/J dual homologation, so it is tested and legal with the chin bar open. A chin bar that springs up removes the face protection, not the head protection — but it removes it.
About the white finish
Conspicuity is a stronger argument on a touring helmet than on a commuting one, and the reason is the riding. On roads you do not know, among drivers who are not expecting motorcycles, being resolved half a second earlier is worth more than it is on a familiar commute. A white helmet sits above the headlight, exactly where an approaching driver's eye scans. There is a thermal benefit alongside it on a helmet with only two intakes: white reflects solar energy a dark shell converts into interior heat. 🔵 The cost is dirt — insects and road film show sooner on white than on anything else here.
P/J homologation and the Super Locker chin bar
The Super Locker chin-bar pivot locks solidly in both positions, and every closure component — the micrometric lock, the chin-bar release — is made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel or special aluminium rather than plastic.
🔵 The release button carries a safety mechanism against accidental opening. SHARP's 50 % figure is nonetheless the number to weigh.
The X-Matrix2 shell
X-Matrix2 is Nexx's multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite rather than plain glass. Two outer shell sizes cover XS to XXXL, which is fewer than the three used on their fixed full-face helmets — a flip-up's hinge and seal limit how much the shell can be scaled.
Claimed weight around 1800 g ±50; the carbon version is quoted 50 g lighter.
96 decibels — the Silent Travel Seal
🔵 96 dB is a genuinely low figure and it matters most on a flip-up, because the chin-bar seam is an extra leak path that a fixed full-face does not have. The Silent Travel Seal — a double rubber seal around both the visor and the chin closure — is Nexx's answer to exactly that.
Independently scored 5/5 for noise, the best result of any Nexx helmet tested.
X-Sensus Vision, X-SWIFT and two visors
🔵 A 15 % larger eye port is the kind of specification that sounds marginal and is not. On a touring helmet you spend hours looking through it, and the difference between an adequate aperture and a generous one shows up as fatigue rather than as an obvious limitation.
The visor is Pinlock-equipped from the factory and changes without tools.
Two closable intakes and two air chambers
🔵 A quiet helmet is a well-sealed helmet, and a well-sealed helmet is a warm one. That trade is inherent, and on the X.LIFETOUR it is more pronounced than usual because the acoustic package is comprehensive.
Two closable intakes, two exhausts, the Mid Airflow Chamber and the Air Cumbs crown pad are what work against it.
Morpho-Fit interior and F.R.S.
🔵 „Seamless" is the specification worth taking seriously here. Most helmet liners are panels stitched together, and every seam is a potential hot spot over a long day. Morpho-Fit is 3D-shaped instead, which is more expensive to make and considerably more comfortable at hour six.
The fabric is X-Mart Dry, drying roughly twice as fast as cotton.
Around 1.8 kilograms, and the rest of the honest list
🔵 A flip-up carries roughly 150–250 g more than a fixed full-face of the same class, all of it in the hinge, the seal and the reinforcement. That is the cost of opening the chin bar at every stop, and it is unavoidable.
The X.LIFETOUR is around 1800 g ±50 in this shell; the carbon version saves 50 g.
Where it sits in Nexx's range
Against the X.LIFECOUNTRY, the difference is the peak and what follows from it. That helmet measured 101 dB and scored 1/5 for weight at 2042 g kitted; this one measured 96 dB and scored 5/5 for noise.
🔵 Same platform, same P/J homologation, very different helmets in use.
Comms, cameras and spare parts
🔵 Two camera mounts is more useful than it sounds on a touring helmet. The top mount gives the classic forward view; the side mount gives a perspective that includes the rider's own hands and mirrors, which is the angle that actually shows what a road is like.
Both are built into the shell rather than sold as adhesive kits. The camera is not supplied.

“Bennetts rate the value, the venting and the sunshield, and criticise two things: the weight, and a chin bar that does not lock as securely open as the best rivals. We measured 1,860 g against a claimed 1,750 — believe the scale.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06.
Three SHARP stars on the X-Matrix 2 shell.
Average.
Comfortable over distance — Bennetts' main praise.
Effective sun visor; the chin bar lock is the weak point.
Two intakes and two exhausts with internal channels.
1,860 g measured, over the claimed 1,750 g.
Two shell sizes.
Good value, in Bennetts' words — with caveats.
400 € — Mid-range. Hover the bar for each range. Value is scored against the touring field, not in the abstract.
