DescriptionThe whole story▼
Wearing a helmet for hours at a stretch demands more than a flashy shell — it demands a fit that disappears. The KYT R1R Carbon Accelerator Red is engineered around that reality: a tricomposite shell that keeps weight down to approximately 1,450 g (size M), a fully removable Hydrocool liner that breathes on the warmest days, and a cheek-pad geometry that holds your head securely without the pressure points that ruin long rides. The Accelerator Red graphic adds a striking visual identity to a helmet that already earns its place at the sharp end of any track day or canyon road session.
Key Features
- Tricomposite shell (carbon, aramid fibres, fibreglass) delivers an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, reducing neck fatigue on extended rides
- Hydrocool interior liner is fully removable and washable, with hygienic treatment and quick-release cheek pads for emergency removal
- Optically correct Class 1 visor with scratch resistance, UV 380 protection and a tool-free roto-translation swap mechanism
- PINLOCK MaxVision 70 insert included as standard — fog-free vision from first light to last lap
- Metal racing visor lock keeps the screen sealed precisely at any speed
- Speaker recesses in the cheek pads offer straightforward Bluetooth intercom integration without modification
- ECE 22.06 approved for road and track use across all sizes
All-Day Comfort and Fit
The interior architecture of the R1R is where KYT has invested heavily. The Hydrocool fabric wicks moisture away from the scalp and temples, maintaining a comfortable microclimate even during sustained high-effort riding. Cheek pads are shaped to cradle without clamping, and their quick-release tabs allow first responders to remove the helmet safely if needed. Riders who wear glasses benefit from dedicated relief channels — KYT describe the fit as Wearable Glasses ready — so spectacle arms sit without pressure or distortion. The double-D retention ring closes with reassuring precision and is easy to operate even with gloves on.
Visor and Vision
The racing visor on the R1R sweeps across a panoramic field of view that keeps peripheral awareness sharp during late braking, mid-corner adjustments and overtaking moves. The roto-translation mechanism lifts and tilts the screen simultaneously as it opens, following the natural arc that creates the best gap for airflow without disturbing helmet geometry. Changing visors — for a tinted screen before a sunny afternoon trackday, for instance — requires no tools and no frustration. The included PINLOCK MaxVision 70 pin-lock insert is pre-fitted and compatible with the visor's anti-fog zone, keeping the screen clear regardless of temperature swings between the paddock and the circuit.
Shell Construction and Safety
The R1R shell is built from a tricomposite layup combining carbon fibre, aramid fibres and fibreglass. The result is a structure that absorbs and disperses impact energy efficiently while keeping overall mass exceptionally low — roughly 1,450 g at size M, within a ±50 g tolerance. That weight advantage translates directly into less muscular load on the neck and shoulders, which is one of the primary sources of fatigue on longer journeys. The helmet meets the current ECE 22.06 homologation standard, making it legal for road use across Europe and welcomed at the vast majority of closed-circuit track day events.
Ventilation and Aerodynamics
Multiple precisely positioned intake vents channel fresh air through the shell and across the liner while exhaust ports at the rear clear warm air before it can build. The aerodynamic rear spoiler reduces lift and dampens the oscillation that can develop above motorway speeds, contributing to a stable, planted head position that demands less corrective muscle tension. Less turbulence, less fatigue — the aerodynamic package is as much a comfort feature as it is a performance one.
Fitment and Compatibility
The KYT R1R Carbon Accelerator Red (SKU: Y6R10003) is a universal full-face helmet suitable for all makes and models of motorcycle. It is available in sizes XS through XXL. Use the head circumference guide below to select the correct size, measuring around the widest part of the skull just above the eyebrows. If your measurement falls between two sizes, choose the larger option for the best all-day fit.
