The Second-Generation Brutale

MV reworked the 800 for 2016 with a new exhaust, revised electronics and a counter-rotating crankshaft carried over from the F3. It is the version that resolved most of the early bike's rough edges while keeping everything that made it worth owning.

RR, RC and the Rest

MV sold this generation under a long list of designations distinguished by state of tune, suspension and paint. Mechanically they are one motorcycle, which is why a single switch covers a name list that reads like a catalogue on its own.

Aligned Clamp Geometry

This version is drilled for master cylinders whose two clamp bolts sit on a line square to the bar. It is the narrower of the two dedicated options and the tidier fit where the geometry is known and will not change.

A Cockpit Fully Exposed

No fairing, no screen, nothing between the handlebar and the weather. Rain arrives at the controls at road speed and stays, and the seam through a clipped moulded assembly is exactly where it eventually causes trouble.

What the Right Hand Carries

Starter, kill switch and the map selection. On a Brutale the maps differ meaningfully rather than nominally, so the buttons behind them are used through a season rather than set once at the dealer.

Sealed and One-Piece

Sealed switch elements inside a body milled from a single billet. No clipped joint to develop play under a triple's vibration and no moulded seam anywhere for water to find over a decade.

Black Anodised

One finish, converted into the surface rather than laid on top. Against the Brutale's exposed trellis frame and dark plastics it belongs, and a knock dulls it instead of exposing bright aluminium.
