Nine model years of Fireblade sit inside this part number. The SC59 and SC77 generations changed engine, chassis and electronics between them, but Honda left the ignition mounting alone — which is why JP KS HO025 covers a 2008 bike and a 2016 one with the same switch.
Key Features
- Covers CBR1000RR Fireblade and Fireblade SP, 2008 through 2016
- Removes the ignition block, barrel and key from the top yoke
- Roughly 350 g saved where it costs most
- Machined Ergal housing with an IP69K push button
- Key Box included so HISS continues to work
- Plug-and-play on the standard Honda connector
Nine Years, One Mounting
Honda revised the Fireblade substantially over this period — traction control arrived, the SP got Öhlins and Brembo, the bodywork changed twice. The ignition assembly was never part of that. For an owner, the practical consequence is that a switch bought for an early SC59 will fit a late SP without adaptation.
The Immobiliser
HISS reads a transponder in the key through an antenna ring around the barrel, so removing the barrel on its own immobilises the bike. The Key Box supplied here holds the original Honda key and wires directly to that antenna. The system stays exactly as Honda designed it — nothing is bypassed — while the lock leaves the cockpit.
An Older Bike Argument
On a Fireblade that is now fifteen years old, the standard lock cylinder has had a long time to collect water and grit, and a seized barrel on a race morning is a real failure mode. Replacing it with a sealed IP69K button removes the mechanism entirely rather than servicing it, which on a bike of this age is usually the better answer.
