DescriptionThe whole story▼
Two catalytic converters, one in each muffler. That is the design decision that lets a Hayabusa keep full Euro 5 EC and ECE type approval while losing 3.9 kg of exhaust — and it is why this system measures exactly the same 91.9 dB as the standard one while sounding nothing like it. The Akrapovic Slip-On Line (Titanium) S-S13SO4-HRAATBL/1 is the black-coated version.
Key Features
- A catalytic converter inside each of the two mufflers, which is what preserves Euro 5 EC and ECE type approval on a machine with this much displacement
- 8.39 kg against the standard 12.27 kg: 3.9 kg and 31.6 per cent less
- Black-coated lightweight titanium outer sleeves, high-grade stainless steel link pipes, carbon fibre end caps and carbon fibre heat shields
- Aero-efficient muffler shape drawn to match the Hayabusa's own bodywork rather than sit on top of it
- Laser-engraved Akrapovic logo instead of a decal
- 91.9 dB at 4,850 rpm — the same measured figure as standard, with a completely different character
- 1.6 PS (1.2 kW) more at 8,700 rpm and 1.9 Nm more at 8,400 rpm, plug-and-play with no remapping
Same Decibels, Different Bike
The noise measurement is worth dwelling on because it is unusual: standard 91.9 dB, Akrapovic 91.9 dB, a difference of exactly zero. A type-approved exhaust has to stay inside a legal window, and Akrapovic hit the same number rather than creeping up to the limit. What changes is the tone — a 1,340 cc four through short, wide titanium cans is a fundamentally different sound from the same engine through the standard system, without being louder on a meter.
Construction
Black coating over titanium is a durability choice as much as a visual one. On a machine that covers long distances at speed, an uncoated titanium sleeve discolours unevenly around the clamp; the coating keeps the finish consistent. The end caps and both heat shields are carbon fibre, and the link pipes are stainless steel where the catalytic converters generate their heat.
Fitment and Compatibility
S-S13SO4-HRAATBL/1 fits the Suzuki Hayabusa GSX-1300R from model year 2021 through 2026. Two notes from Akrapovic: the system fits Euro 5+ motorcycles equipped with two lambda sensors, and it was developed and tested on EU-specification machines — fitment and measured performance on bikes built for other markets can differ. Installation takes about 45 minutes and a noise insert is supplied.
Road Approval
EC type approval and ECE type approval to Euro 5, with the certificates supplied and downloadable from this page. Because a catalytic converter stays in each muffler, nothing is removed from the emissions path and the machine remains legal for road use in the European Union.
