DescriptionThe whole story▼
A Yamaha R6 that has settled into a quieter life, ridden to the office in summer and out for a coffee on Saturday mornings, does not need a race compound at the front. Accossato front pad AGPA97 in the Organic (OR) compound is the calm option for that rider. Accossato lists AGPA97 for the R6 across a long span, 1999 to 2026. OR aims for quiet running, easy bite from cold and long disc life, which matters on an older R6 whose owner wants to keep the original discs going.
Key Features
- Front pad AGPA97 in the Organic (OR) compound
- Listed for the Yamaha R6 from 1999 to 2026
- Accossato: longer performance, limited disc wear
- Soft, progressive bite for relaxed road use
- Works well on short trips when brakes stay cool
- Two pads per box, one caliper
- Other mixes for AGPA97: ST, EV1, EV2, ZXC
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's promise for the Organic compound has two parts: it keeps performing for a long time, and it limits wear on the disc. For an R6 that may be well into its second decade, keeping the discs healthy is a practical concern. Accossato's general statements for its pads, slow wear, less fade because heat stays under control and strong stopping power, are included as the maker's own words; we have no measurements to add.
An R6 in Everyday Traffic
The R6 was designed as a high-revving supersport, but many examples now spend their time in ordinary traffic. There the front brakes are used gently and often, and rarely get warm. A compound that bites from cold and stays quiet at walking pace makes the bike easier to live with. For a spirited weekend in the hills or a track day, EV1 offers a firmer response, and ST is the steadier choice if you ride through wet months.
Refreshing an Older R6
On an older R6, a pad change is a good moment to look at the whole front brake. Clean the pistons before pressing them back, check that they slide smoothly, inspect the discs for wear and replace dark brake fluid. Bed the new pads in with a series of gradually firmer stops.
Fitment and Compatibility
In Accossato's catalogue the YZF 600 R6 appears with AGPA97 for every year from 1999 to 2026, so early and late bikes share this front pad. Each R6 carries a pair of front calipers; one box fills one of them, which means buying two for a full front change. If the rear is due as well, look for AGPP88 on an R6 built between 2003 and 2016, or AGPP39 on one from 2017 to 2026.
Road Approval
No ABE or test documents are available to us for AGPA97OR, so we offer it for racing and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
