DescriptionThe whole story▼
For many owners, the Aprilia Shiver 900 spends the winter in a garage, a shed or a shared underground car park, waiting for spring. A stored bike looks safe, yet this is where some of the silliest tip-overs happen: a car door swung open, a child's bicycle, a dust cover pulled off carelessly. For the Shiver 900 of 2017 and 2018, Accossato offers the PF031 front axle sliders, a black pair whose construction mixes aluminium and plastic.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Aprilia Shiver 900, 2017 and 2018
- Accossato front fork protection, code PF031
- Two sliders, one for each side
- Aluminium and plastic, black
- Spacers, screws and other mounting parts included (Accossato)
- Intended as the first point of contact in a tip-over
- TP052 crash pads also listed for this bike
- No German ABE on file; for circuit and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The PF031 comes as two black protectors, and Accossato names aluminium and plastic as their materials. Everything needed for mounting, the spacers and screws included, is in the box according to the manufacturer. Their purpose is to offer the Shiver 900 a part that is allowed to get scratched. In a tip-over or slide they are meant to touch first at the front, where they may lessen the damage to the fork and the axle area. A slider that has cracked or worn down is simply renewed.
Six Months in the Garage
Good winter storage starts with a clean bike. Wash and dry the Shiver 900, lubricate the chain and fill the tank, which leaves less room for condensation. Connect a charger designed for motorcycle batteries, or take the battery indoors. A paddock stand at the rear takes the load off the tyres, but it also raises the bike, so make sure it stands firmly where nobody can knock into it. If you use a cover, choose a breathable one and lift it off gently rather than yanking it, because a tug at the wrong angle can pull a bike off its stand. In a shared garage, park where car doors cannot reach the bike and let your neighbours know it is there. In spring, check tyre pressures, brakes and fluids before the first ride, and look at the sliders and levers if anything happened over the winter.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's catalogue includes the Shiver 900 of 2017 and 2018 among the applications of the PF031. The same pair is listed in our shop for the Shiver 750 and the Tuono V4 1100. Accossato's other protection part for this model is the TP052 crash pad set. If your Shiver 900 was built after 2018, please ask us before ordering.
Road Approval
Approval documents for the PF031, such as a German ABE or a parts certificate, have not been provided to us. We list the sliders for competition and track days.
