On race morning many motocross riders walk the track before practice. They study the ruts, the jump faces and the braking zones, and decide where the GasGas MC 250 will slow down and where it will carry speed. A two-stroke 250 is quick through the turns but punishes a braking point that is too early or too late. For the MC 250 of 2022 Accossato makes the B8283, a front brake lever milled from Ergal 7075 in Italy, with a joint that gives the blade a chance to fold when the plan goes wrong.

Construction and Material Quality
The company behind the B8283 was founded to build competition motorcycles, in 1969 and in Moncalieri on the edge of Turin, so racing is where its parts come from. The lever is machined in Italy on CNC equipment from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, with strength, low weight and reliability as the targets. It is made of two pieces: a dark base on the master cylinder pivot and a blade in the colour you order, attached with a folding joint. The brake blade is kept short, sized for three fingers.
Walking the Track
Walking a track shows things a rider cannot see at speed. A braking zone that looks smooth from the start straight may hide a series of square-edged bumps, a berm may have a deep rut on the inside and a flatter line round the outside, and the approach to a downhill turn may have been polished hard by earlier classes. Riders note where they will brake, where they can let the bike run, and where the ground will kick the front wheel about under braking.
Plans still fail. A braking point missed by a bike length sends the MC 250 into the turn too fast, and the front tucks on the edge of the rut. The bike slides onto its right side with the brake lever underneath, and that is when the B8283's joint comes into play: the blade can fold forward rather than snap, which, if it works, lets the rider lift the bike and rejoin with the front brake intact. It is a chance, not a promise. On race day a lever that survives a small crash can mean finishing the moto rather than retiring on the spot.
Fitment and Compatibility
The B8283 is made for one model year of the GasGas MC 250, the 2022 two-stroke motocross bike, and it goes on the original front brake master cylinder in place of the stock lever. Other years of the MC 250 are not on Accossato's list for this lever. For the left side of the bar there is the C7283 folding clutch lever, likewise for 2022, which comes in red as well as black, blue and orange.
Road Approval
The B8283 is not backed by a German ABE. It is made for motocross tracks and closed off-road courses, the ground the MC 250 is built for.
