DescriptionThe whole story▼

A weekend of forest tracks leaves a Multistrada 1260 Enduro covered in dust or mud, and the cockpit gets its share. The levers sit right in the spray from the front wheel, and every wash afterwards blasts water and grit around their pivots. How a lever copes with that decides how it looks and feels after a few seasons. The Accossato EDF099 is a machined and anodised aluminium brake lever for the Multistrada 1260 Enduro from 2019 to 2021, with adjustable reach and a choice of three blade lengths.

Key Features

  • Front brake lever for the Multistrada 1260 Enduro, 2019 to 2021
  • Anodised surface that does not chip or peel like paint
  • Adjustable distance between lever and grip
  • Short, standard (approximately 138 mm) and long blades
  • Seven blade colours, black hub
  • CNC-machined aluminium, no hinge in the blade
  • Fits the original master cylinder; boxed by Accossato

Construction and Material Quality

The EDF099 is machined from aluminium and then anodised. In that process the surface of the metal is converted into a dense oxide layer, and the colour is taken up into that layer. There is no film of paint that grit could sand through or a stone could flake off. The hub is always black, the blade carries the colour, and the two form a single rigid lever with no folding joint to collect dirt.

Mud, Grit and the Pressure Washer

After a muddy ride, rinse the handlebar area with plenty of water at low pressure before you touch it with a brush. Grit rubbed across a surface scratches even a hard finish, so let the water carry it away first. Keep the jet of a pressure washer away from the lever pivot, the switch housings and the master cylinder, because water forced into them does more harm than the dirt it removes.

Choose the cleaning product with care. Anodised aluminium dislikes strongly alkaline cleaners, which can dull the colour over time, so a mild motorcycle cleaner is the safer choice. Once the Multistrada 1260 Enduro is dry, check that the lever still returns freely and that the reach adjuster is where you set it, and put a drop of light lubricant on the pivot if it feels stiff. A lever that is looked after this way keeps both its colour and its smooth action on a bike that sees more dirt than most.

Fitment and Compatibility

Accossato lists the EDF099 for the Multistrada 1260 Enduro from 2019 to 2021, where it replaces the original front brake lever on the master cylinder. Accossato does not list a clutch lever for this model.

Road Approval

The EDF099 is sold for the track, as no German ABE is documented for it.

Scope of Delivery
