Elite waterproofing doesn't soak through in the first place. The Seventy Degrees Expedition borrows its construction from high-altitude mountaineering kit: a directly-laminated shell that sheds water instead of absorbing it, so the jacket stays light and dry when the rain simply won't stop.
Laminated, Welded, Sealed
The S-TEX70 12K/12K laminated structure bonds the waterproof-breathable membrane straight to the outer fabric, so water runs off the face immediately rather than saturating it — dramatically lighter under sustained rain than any separate-membrane design. Every seam is thermally welded: heat-bonded tape over each stitch line, leaving no needle-hole for water to find at motorway speed.
Dialled In With Gloves On
The ATOP® micrometric waist dial lets you fine-tune the fit one-handed — even in thick winter gloves — without letting go of anything. Direct chest ventilation zips open airflow when the weather turns warm, and the removable Warm-70 thermal liner (zoned 100g core / 80g sleeves) concentrates warmth at the torso while keeping the arms mobile.
