DescriptionThe whole story▼
Matt pink is the least conventional finish MT offers on a sport helmet, and it is worth pointing out that this is a proper saturated pink under a flat finish rather than a pastel afterthought.
An entry sport full-face with two homologations
🔵 Dual homologation is a genuine difference rather than a marketing one. ECE 22.06 and DOT test differently, and a helmet has to satisfy both — which not every helmet at 119 € attempts.
MT's own phrasing is that the Targo S exceeds both standards. That is the manufacturer's claim; the certifications themselves are the verifiable part.
About the Outside C8 graphic
Colour choices on entry-level sport helmets almost always play safe, and this one does not — which is most of its appeal. Practically it is a high-value finish, so it carries a genuine conspicuity benefit in the flat light where a rider most needs one, without going fluorescent. Under matt the colour reads as pigment rather than as paint, which keeps the helmet from looking glossy and cheap in the way bright entry-level lids often do. 🔵 Two caveats. Matt is washed rather than polished — abrasive polish leaves a permanent shiny patch — and it shows dry dust more readily than gloss. And saturated pigments fade faster than dark ones under sustained ultraviolet, so store the helmet out of direct sun rather than on a mirror. Worth adding that on a helmet with no drop-down sun visor, a bright shell is doing work a shield would otherwise do — it is not purely a styling choice. In practice a pink helmet in traffic is noticed sooner than a black one, and that is worth more than any argument about whether it suits the bike.
The sun visor this helmet does not have
🔵 Read the model names across MT's range carefully. The SV suffix means an integrated drop-down shield. The Targo S does not carry it, and that accounts for a meaningful part of the price difference against the Braker SV.
On a sport helmet the omission is more defensible than on a touring one — but it is still the feature you will miss on a westbound evening.
HIRP and 1.5 kilograms
🔵 What a thermoplastic shell means in practice: it is injection-moulded rather than laid up by hand, which makes it cheaper to produce and heavier than a composite. It also makes it very consistent, because the process is machine-controlled.
Weight is around 1.5 kg — the honest cost of the price.
MT-V-14B, MT-QVSS and the anti-fog insert you buy separately
🔵 Three anti-fog options fit this visor — Pinlock DKS209, FogOff FOG003 and FogOff FOG017 — and none is in the box. Check which your supplier stocks before ordering; the codes are specific to the MT-V-14B and do not interchange with other MT models.
Budget roughly 25–40 € for one.
The MT-Micrometric+ closure
🔵 A loose strap is the most common way a helmet fails to do its job, and it has nothing to do with the shell. If the helmet can be rolled forward off your head with the strap fastened, it is either too big or too loose.
The MT-Micrometric+ closure adjusts finely enough to fix the second problem. It cannot fix the first.
Interior, fit and the five-size range
🔵 The size range is the practical thing to check first: the Targo S covers XS to XL and stops there. If your head circumference is above roughly 62 cm, this helmet will not fit you, and MT's Braker SV or Thunder 4 R SV cover the larger sizes instead.
Measure around the widest part of your head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows.
Universal UCS intercom housing
🔵 „Universal" is the right approach at this price, because a rider buying a 119-euro helmet is unlikely to buy a brand-specific communicator to match it. The UCS housing takes standard units.
Nothing is supplied with the helmet — the provision is the feature.
What a rider replica is — and is not
🔵 Replica helmets have one practical characteristic worth knowing: they run for a season. The artwork is tied to a rider's colours for a particular year, which means a chipped or scratched one cannot be matched later, and a second helmet in the same scheme may simply not exist.
If that matters to you, the standard Outside graphics stay in the range longer.
Where it sits in MT's range
🔵 Within MT's full-face range the ladder runs: Stinger 2 85 € (no sun visor, ECE only), Braker SV 115 € (sun visor, DOT), Targo S 119 € (no sun visor, DOT, sport shape), Thunder 4 R SV 157 € (sun visor, Pinlock included).
All four use the same HIRP platform.
When something wears out
🔵 The anti-fog insert is the first accessory most owners buy, because none is supplied and a cold commute mists the visor at every stop. Three options fit: Pinlock DKS209, FogOff FOG003 and FogOff FOG017.
All are consumables — the seal loses grip and the surface clouds after a few seasons.
In the box

Rated. Certified. Lit.
“MCN ran it for six months and rated the value as incredible, and the visor mechanism is genuinely one of the best. Two things are missing: there is no sun visor, and one shell size covers every head — which is where the 1,550 g comes from.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06.
HIRP shell — but only one shell size for the whole range.
Quiet compared with other helmets at this price.
Comfortable over longer rides.
One of the best visor-release mechanisms MCN has used.
Rated 4 of 5, though it mists easily without a Pinlock.
1,550 g, largely because of the single shell size.
One shell size across every helmet size.
MCN tested it for six months and called it incredible value.
