Across MV Agusta's triple range this is the listing where the answer can be yes, and it is worth setting out precisely why. Not because of the letters after the model name — a badge decides nothing about air — but because the owner who reaches this page has usually already agreed to the conditions a racing medium quietly attaches to itself, and those conditions are what make the trade close in the buyer's favour.
Key Features
- Sprint Filter's racing cloth: one layer of dry polyester, never treated with oil
- Filtration 85 µm, rated flow 15,000 l/m²/sec
- Roughly twice the filtering surface of other performance filters
- Nothing migrates downstream — a dry medium leaves the sensors and throttle bodies alone
- Fits the series airbox unmodified, with no mapping change required
- Air-cleaned between outings, designed for the life of the motorcycle, two years of warranty
The three things that have to be true
First, the engine has to spend real time near the top of the rev range with the throttle wide open, repeatedly rather than in glimpses, because that is the only state in which a throughput figure of this size is ever cashed. Second, the airbox has to be opened often — a coarse weave is a racing choice precisely because racing shortens every interval around it. Third, the air itself has to be reasonably clean, which swept circuit tarmac is and a gravel-strewn back road is not. Meet all three and the wider aperture costs you little of what it would cost elsewhere. Meet one of them and the standard P08 is the more sensible part.
What it still will not do
It will not add power. The ceiling on what this engine draws is set by displacement, valve timing and throttle area, and a filter can only subtract from that ceiling by a smaller or larger amount; CM135S F1-85 makes the subtraction smaller, which is not the same thing as making anything bigger. It also does not switch itself off on the ride home. The same machine that laps a circuit on Saturday goes back down the public road afterwards with an 85 µm weave still in the box, filtering exactly as coarsely as it did all day. That is the price, and it is worth naming rather than glossing over.
Care and cleaning
Between sessions the tool is a compressor: hold the line against the clean side, move it steadily across the pleats, and let the dirt leave the way it came. Between seasons the element can have a bath — lukewarm water, a mild washing-up liquid, no scrubbing, rinsed until the water runs clean of colour. What comes afterwards matters more than either step: the medium dries in air and only in air, well away from heat guns, radiators and flames, and it is refitted dry with nothing applied. Sprint Filter's cleaning instructions are under Downloads.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the airbox of the MV Agusta F3 800 and F3 800 RC, catalogued from 2017 to 2026. Eleven machines share the part: the F3 675 and F3 Ago, the Superveloce, the Brutale 675 and 800, the Dragster RR, the Rivale, RVS #1, the Stradale and the Turismo Veloce.
