DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Sidi MAG 2 in Black 1000 is a new racing boot from the Italian manufacturer, aimed at circuit riders and fast road riders who want a closed, tightly fitting boot that keeps the foot locked onto the peg. Its two defining details are the NUUN 002M dial system, which replaces the zip with three adjustable holding points, and a flat inner side that Sidi shaped to sit directly against the motorcycle.
Please note: the MAG 2 is a model of its own and not the MAG 2 Air that is already listed in our shop. Everything on this page refers only to the MAG 2 as described in Sidi's 2027 list and on sidi.com.
Key Features
- NUUN 002M dial closure with three holding points instead of a zip, adjustable on the fly
- Upper of breathable microfibre with integrated shields and external protectors
- Flat medial surface for close contact with the bike and clear feedback through the boot
- Arched bellows at the front and rear combined with a sculpted structure for mobility and stability
- CONCRECTO rubber racing sole for grip and feel on footpegs and controls
- Openable toe vents that let air in when temperatures rise
- CE certified to EN 13634:2017, made in Italy
- Unisex, EU sizes 39 to 47
NUUN 002M: Three Points Instead of a Zip
Where many racing boots rely on a zip and a hook-and-loop flap, the MAG 2 closes with the NUUN 002M rotor system. Sidi describes it as an aerodynamic three-point lock: the dials draw the boot around the leg at separate points, so the retaining force is spread across the foot rather than concentrated on a single strap. Turning a dial tightens the fit in small steps, and according to Sidi the adjustment takes only seconds, for example in the pit box between two sessions. Since there is no zip running along the shaft, the outside of the boot stays smooth and uninterrupted.
Protection and Certification
The MAG 2 is CE certified to EN 13634:2017, the European standard for protective footwear for motorcycle riders. Sidi's list does not state performance levels for the individual test categories, so we do not quote any. The protection itself comes from shields integrated into the microfibre upper and from external protectors. Sidi states that these are meant to absorb high-energy impacts and, in Sidi's wording, to reduce tumble risk, without restricting the rider's movement. The product photos show a large plate over the shin and a separate panel at the heel.
Construction and Materials
According to the 2027 list, the upper consists of 48.9% PU, 35% microfibre, 7.2% nylon, 7% Lycra and 0.9% PVC. The lining is 80% polyester and 20% polyamide, and the sole is 100% rubber. Flexible bellows at the front and rear allow the shaft to bend when you tuck in or shift your weight, while the sculpted structure is intended, in Sidi's words, to keep the boot in shape and stable under high stress. The MAG 2 is produced in Italy.
Feel on the Bike
Two details are about connection rather than protection. The inner side of the boot is flat, so it rests flush against the motorcycle and passes on every input when you load the peg or grip the bike with your legs. Underneath, the CONCRECTO compound sole is engineered, as Sidi puts it, for direct control and a precise response on the footpegs, the gear lever and the rear brake. Sidi's own summary describes the MAG 2 as built for cornering, control and acceleration at MotoGP level; how much of that ends up in your lap times is, of course, down to you.
Heat Management
On a hot track day any closed racing boot gets warm inside. The MAG 2 addresses this with breathable microfibre panels, flexible zones and toe vents that can be opened when needed and closed again when the air is cooler; Sidi calls this airflow on demand. Sidi's documentation for the MAG 2 does not mention a ventilated sole or internal air channels, so cooling relies on the vents and materials named here.
Fit and Sizes
The MAG 2 is listed as a unisex boot in EU sizes 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46 and 47. Half sizes are not part of the range. The list gives no fit recommendation of its own, so if you are between two sizes, it is worth trying the boot on with the socks you actually ride in and with your leathers, because the three dials then let you fine-tune the hold around the shin.
What You Should Know
The MAG 2 is a dedicated racing boot. No waterproof membrane is named for it, so it should not be treated as waterproof, and the openable toe vents are there for airflow, not for weather protection. It is designed for riding at circuit level rather than for long walks off the bike. The size run ends at 47, so riders with larger feet will need to look at another model. The list does not specify which parts can be replaced individually; please ask us before planning on spare parts. And once more: this is the MAG 2, not the MAG 2 Air.
Colour
Black 1000 keeps the MAG 2 almost entirely black. The only contrast comes from the white Sidi lettering on the shin plate and on the heel panel, while matte and textured surfaces alternate across the shaft and the closure modules. The result matches any leather suit, whatever its colours, and scuff marks from the peg or the tarmac are much less noticeable than on a white boot. The flip side is lower visibility, and in direct summer sun black surfaces warm up faster, which is when the openable toe vents come in handy.
