Function
This one measures 32 mm, 44.2 mm, 25 mm, and those figures are what separate it from the neighbouring numbers. These are the parts that are easy to lose on the bench and impossible to improvise afterwards. Small parts are cheap until one of them is missing on a Friday afternoon. Öhlins lists these individually because a service usually needs a handful of them.
Original Öhlins Part
Suspension is one of the few areas where the original part is genuinely the cheaper decision. The part number is the contract: it defines material, dimension and finish together. Öhlins numbers do not follow a logic you can guess — always read them from the documentation. If you are unsure which number your unit takes, send us the model and serial number of the damper and we will look it up.
Identifying the Right Part
Part number 21803-02 is unambiguous; the description alone is not, because Öhlins uses similar wording across sizes. The published dimensions are dimension a 32 mm, dimension b 44.2 mm, dimension c 25 mm — measure the old part against them if you are unsure. Circlips are single-use in practice: once sprung, they no longer hold their groove reliably. Öhlins uses metric threads throughout, but the length and head form are specific to the position.
Fitting and Setup Service
Fitting service parts means opening a pressurised unit. As an authorised Öhlins service centre we do that here, with the right tools and a dyno check afterwards — just ask.
