The Whole Assembly
Ducati offers no smaller replacement than the complete throttle housing with its switches. That fact, rather than any argument about materials, is why this component exists in this form.
A Pit Limiter Nobody Asked For
Ducati built a proper pit-lane speed control into a road-registered motorcycle. It is operated from the bar and it says plainly who the 1299 was drawn for.
Eight Levels of Traction
Adjustable while riding, with genuine resolution rather than three vague settings. In 2015 that granularity still belonged to racing electronics rather than to production bikes.
A Decade of Contacts
The earliest 1299s are ten years old. What stops working is not the button but the terminal beneath it, after water has reached it and stayed through a winter.
Cut, Not Formed
The throttle bore holds its dimension where a moulded one gradually opens. On a bike making 116 newton metres, slack at the grip is felt at every corner exit.
Sealed Inside the Aluminium
The elements are enclosed within the body rather than behind a snap-fit lid. Clips lose tension across a decade of vibration; a solid body has none.
Anodised Through
Grown into the surface electrochemically rather than sprayed on. Nothing chips, and against red bodywork it stays where it belongs, which is out of the way.
The Last Twin Flagship
After the 1299 came the V4 and a line that began with the 851 ended. Values have reflected that ever since and owners tend to specify these bikes accordingly.
Factory Plug
Nothing cut into the loom. The exchange is mechanical and it reverses in the same quarter of an hour it took to make.
