Thirty litres of fuel and a set of crash bars change what a GS is for. The JP CO BM018 replaces the Adventure's combined throttle housing and switch block with milled Ergal, unlettered.

Built to Be Away Longer
The Adventure is not simply a GS with a bigger tank. It has more suspension travel, a wider stance, standard protection and a fuel range that removes the need to plan around filling stations. It is the version that ends up on continental crossings and, statistically, the one most likely to be dropped at walking pace on a loose surface.
The Controls Take the Fall
When a fully loaded Adventure goes over, the handlebar hits the ground before almost anything else. Crash bars protect the cylinder heads and the tank; nothing protects the switchgear. A moulded housing cracks at the clamp; a body milled from solid Ergal deforms rather than shattering, and usually keeps working.
Everything in One Assembly
BMW integrated the right-hand switches into the throttle housing on this generation, so the two cannot be separated. Replacing either means replacing both, which is inconvenient from a dealer and straightforward here: this is a single machined body that takes over the whole job and plugs into the original connector.
No Badge on the Flank
The GS-lettered version of this housing exists for owners who want the model name repeated in the cockpit. This one is blank. On an Adventure that has already accumulated a decade of luggage racks, auxiliary lights and tank bags, one less piece of branding is often the preference.
A Spare Worth Carrying
Riders who take an Adventure a long way from a dealer network think in terms of what can be replaced at the roadside. A throttle housing is not an obvious candidate until the bike has been dropped twice on a gravel pass and the mode button has stopped responding. Machined aluminium simply moves that possibility much further away.
