Both Master Cylinders
The universal slots cover the original clamp and the radial replacements. An R has usually had its brake end changed and this part is indifferent to which.
Sold Only Complete
Ducati offers nothing below the assembly. The switches are integral to the moulding, which is why a single hesitant contact retires the whole component.
Colour in the Metal
Anodising converts the aluminium's surface layer electrolytically. A scratch reveals more coloured material rather than bright metal under a chip.
Detent, Not Decoration
What reaches a gloved hand is the sharpness of the action. Rigid walls pass that on; flexing plastic quietly takes the edge off it.
Reversible Quickly
Two fasteners and a connector, with the harness untouched. On a short-run model that people keep and eventually sell, that matters.
Aimed Above Its Own Range
Ducati built the R to fight the Super Duke and the Tuono rather than to top the Monster line. It matched them on power, undercut them on weight and never quite outsold either.
Ride Height Raised
Ducati went up while the market chased lower seats. The geometry sharpened considerably and the bike became far more willing to turn on its front wheel.
A Silhouette You Recognise
The two-into-one-into-two exhaust exits under the tail and changes the whole shape. It is the detail that identifies an R across a car park at a glance.
A Hundred and Sixty Horsepower
The most powerful Monster Ducati ever put into production, from the 1198 cc Testastretta. It arrived at a point when the hyper-naked class was becoming genuinely competitive and it held its own.
Öhlins and Carbon
Suspension at both ends, a matching steering damper and carbon panels. The R was specified as a complete motorcycle rather than as a base bike with a badge and a louder exhaust.
