A Touring Supermoto
Ducati added a screen, panniers, a bigger tank and softer springs to the Hypermotard. Nobody else attempted the idea and it worked considerably better than it had any right to.
Twelve-Volt Sockets
Power outlets, a centre stand mounting and semi-rigid bags as standard. It was a serious attempt at the format rather than a sticker and a taller screen.
Universal Mounting
The clamp slots take the original master cylinder and the radial replacements alike, which covers the bike before and after any brake work.
Black, Red or Titanium
All three grown into the aluminium. Owners of these motorcycles personalise them heavily and the extra choice on this part number suits that.
Winter Salt
A bike used for real journeys meets road salt, which sits in a moulded seam and works on a terminal across several seasons rather than one wet week.
Sealed Inside
The elements are enclosed within the machined body. There is no lid to lose tension and no joint for the salt to travel along in the first place.
Quietly Dropped
Ducati stopped building the Hyperstrada after the 939 and never replaced it. The people who bought one keep it, which has made used examples genuinely hard to find.
Untouched Wiring
Ducati's own connector at the end of the loom. On a bike taken a long way from home, an installation with no splices in it is the one still working at the far end.
Softer Springs, Same Bike
Ducati changed the suspension rates and the ergonomics and left the engine alone. Underneath the screen and the panniers the Hyperstrada still steers like a Hypermotard, which is most of the reason anyone wanted one in the first place.
