Printing Under Sun
The moulded original's legends are surface applied and a naked bike gives them no shade at all. They fade faster here than on any faired motorcycle in the range.
Cycled Harder
With no bodywork the cockpit warms and cools more sharply every ride. Plastics take a permanent set under that treatment and aluminium simply does not.
Snap Fittings
Two moulded halves under the vibration of a 1103 cc V4. The clips relax across seasons and the movement that follows is small, permanent and impossible to ignore afterwards.
An Anodised Layer
Grown into the metal rather than laid over it. Against forged wheels and gold suspension, a finish that ages rather than chips is the only sensible choice.
Undone in Twenty Minutes
The harness is never cut. A Streetfighter that has been personalised heavily can be returned to standard quickly, which matters when it changes hands.
Four Anodised Options
Black, red, titanium and copper. The S already carries a great deal of visible hardware and the quieter two are generally the more successful choices.
Electronically Managed Öhlins
Semi-active damping on a motorcycle with no fairing, wide bars and 208 horsepower. The suspension is working continuously rather than sitting at a compromise setting.
Wings on a Naked Bike
Two elements per side, fitted because nothing else keeps the front wheel down at the speeds this engine reaches. They are functional first and striking second.
The Same Engine as the Superbike
The Desmosedici Stradale with a different airbox and final drive. Ducati changed remarkably little and the result is unlike anything else on sale.
