The Smallest Ducati
Three hundred and ninety-nine cubic centimetres and 41 horsepower, built to the A2 licence limit. It is the least powerful motorcycle Ducati has sold in decades and it was not a bad one.
A First Big Bike
The Sixty2 was bought largely by people moving up from a 125. That means it was ridden in all weather, parked outdoors and dropped at least once.
Three Finishes
Black, titanium and red, converted into the aluminium. On a motorcycle sold on personalisation, the components on the handlebar carry more weight than on most.
Markings That Fade
Printed onto the moulded shell and gone within a few summers. On a bike ridden by somebody still learning where everything is, that is genuinely inconvenient.
Outdoors, Year Round
A Sixty2 rarely lives in a heated garage. Moisture settling in a joint overnight does far more to a terminal than riding through a shower ever will.
Snap Fittings
Two moulded halves clipped together on an air-cooled twin. The tension goes across years and the block starts moving slightly against the bar.
Nothing Spliced
Pre-wired to Ducati's own connector. On an entry-level motorcycle likely to be sold on within a few years, an untouched harness keeps things simple.
Discontinued Without a Successor
Ducati stopped building the Sixty2 in 2020 and left the segment. Nothing in the current range does what it did, which has kept used examples moving.
Air-Cooled to the End
The 399 cc Desmodue was a genuinely simple engine in an era when nothing else was. Emissions rules ended it and nothing comparable has replaced it.
