The JP ES 013 settles the Z1000R's sidestand interlock so the engine runs with the stand removed.

An Ohlins Rear Unit
Fully adjustable and a genuine improvement over the standard shock. It is the single change that most affects how the Z1000 behaves on a bad road.
Green Frame, Gold Wheels
Kawasaki's racing colours applied to a road bike, which is either the whole point or entirely unnecessary depending on the buyer.
Removed for a Circuit
Weight, ground clearance and an organiser who would rather not see one. The stand is among the first components off any bike being prepared.
Reversible
The standard switch refits with the stand whenever the motorcycle returns to the road, and nothing is consumed in either direction.
Why the Position Cannot Change
The switch has to sense the stand, so it lives where the stand lives, which is the lowest and dirtiest part of the motorcycle. No manufacturer has found a better answer.
What Failure Looks Like
The engine cuts as a gear is selected at a junction, restarts perfectly in neutral and behaves for a fortnight. The intermittency is what makes it unpleasant.
Track Preparation
Lights, mirrors, plate and stand come off in the first evening, and the eliminator goes on immediately afterwards so the rest of the work can be tested.
Carrying One as a Spare
Riders heading somewhere remote sometimes carry a replacement switch. An eliminator weighs less, costs less and solves the problem permanently, which is why several end up in tool rolls rather than fitted.
