The JP ACC KT016 is the short-stroke throttle for the 1090 Adventure R: same opening, same electronics, considerably less distance for the hand to cover on the way there.

Twenty One Inches at the Front
The R specification means long travel suspension, spoked wheels and a seat height that rules out shorter riders. It is meant to be ridden standing up for hours.
Machined From Solid
Ergal cut on a machine rather than moulded, which is what allows the internal ratio to be held to a figure instead of to a tolerance band.
Free Play
A standard assembly develops a small dead zone at the closed position with age. A machined one starts without it and keeps it that way.
No Re-Gripping
On a bike with a long standard rotation the wrist runs out of travel and the hand has to shuffle. That shuffle is the thing this removes.

The mechanical work is short. What takes the planning is the diagnostic session that has to follow it before the bike is ridden.
If the Bike Will Not Idle
The commonest symptom of a skipped reset. It is not damage and it is not a faulty part; it is a controller referencing a component that has been removed.

Less rotation for the same opening buys a better hand position and costs some fine control at the bottom of the range.
Grips and Bar Ends
The tube takes a standard grip, but factory grips are often bonded and will not survive removal in usable condition. A new pair belongs on the same order. Bar end weights generally transfer, though the thread is worth checking on anything unusual.
In the Wet
Less rotation for the same opening leaves less room for a cold, wet hand to be gentle. The riding mode helps and the mechanical ratio does not care about the weather. It is the clearest argument for keeping the standard assembly reachable.
