A Different Sequence
The same functions the street block carries, arranged around what a rider uses repeatedly at a circuit. It takes a single session to stop noticing the change.
Adjusted Between Runs
Traction as the tyre goes off, map as the track cools. On a light middleweight those settings matter as much as they do on a litre bike, and they are all reached from here.
Hot Water After the Flag
Twenty minutes later, on warm aluminium. It is what actually ends switchgear on a circuit motorcycle and a machined body gives the jet nothing to work on.
A Season in a Van
Damp, cold and vibrating for hours at a time. It is harsher than most track sessions and it is where clipped moulded covers quietly lose their tension.

Nothing spliced, so the standard block refits in twenty minutes. A V2 sold on afterwards shows no sign of the weekends it spent at circuits.
Light Enough for Clubman Racing
A hundred and seventy-six kilograms dry with 120 horsepower. It is a considerably more accessible race platform than a litre bike and it will fill grids accordingly.
An Engine With No Ancestry
The 890 V2 was designed from nothing rather than developed from the Superquadro, without a capacity rule to work around. Ducati optimised for weight instead.
Cheaper to Run
Tyres, pads and rebuilds all cost less on a middleweight than on a V4. Racing on a budget is arithmetic first, and this is the Ducati that makes the sums work.
A Superbike You Can Sit On
A narrower tank and a lower seat than any Panigale before it. For a rider spending a full day at a circuit, that is worth more than another ten horsepower.
