A Sports Tourer on a Belt
The 800 twin drives through a toothed belt rather than a chain, which is quieter and cleaner and changes very little about how the engine is fuelled.
Nothing Is Locked
There is no dealer code, no subscription and no limit on how often the map is rewritten. The unit belongs to whoever owns it, which is not true of every tuning product.
The Injectors Are Standard
No hardware is replaced. The unit works with the fuel system the factory fitted and extends the injector opening time, which is all it needs to do.
The Time It Takes
An afternoon to produce something usable, a winter to produce something good. Anybody without the patience for the second number should buy the cheaper unit.
At a Race Meeting
Conditions change between practice and the race. A programmable unit lets the map follow them, which is the entire argument for this over a fixed curve.
Not for a Standard Bike
The manufacturer names racing modifications as the reason this exists. On an unmodified motorcycle with the factory exhaust there is very little for a map to correct.
The Rev Limiter Stays
It belongs to the standard controller and no amount of mapping moves it. Anybody hoping for more revs is looking at the wrong component entirely.
Idle
Usually left alone. The standard controller manages idle with its own strategy and mapping around it creates more problems than it solves.
What a Session Actually Looks Like
A quiet road or a dyno, a laptop connected, a wideband reading logged, one region of the map adjusted, then the same run repeated to see whether the number moved. Three or four rounds of that fill an evening.
