A Genuine Touring Bike
For all the performance, the 1260 is comfortable, well protected and easy to load. Owners cover enormous distances on them without complaint.
Do Not Skip the Airbox End
The port where the hose left the intake needs closing too, otherwise unfiltered air enters the engine and the outcome is worse than before.
Sealed at Both Ends
The connector is potted against water and vibration, and the cover seals on an O-ring in a machined groove. Neither is an improvisation.
Keep the Originals Together
Bag both parts with their fasteners and label them. The person who needs them is either an inspector or the next owner.

Overtightening into the head. The specified figure is low and exceeding it turns a short evening into a thread repair.

The Electrical Half in Detail
A passive resistance inside a potted body with Ducati's own connector moulded on, presenting the value the controller expects from a healthy solenoid winding. Nothing is powered, nothing is generated and nothing can drift, which is what a part living next to a cylinder head needs to be.
The Argument Against Doing It At All
A working secondary air system costs nothing, does no harm and keeps the motorcycle in road specification everywhere it is sold. On a newer machine with sound reeds that is a genuinely reasonable position, and this kit is aimed at the owners for whom it no longer applies.
