The GSR750 took the K5 GSX-R engine, detuned it and put it in a naked frame at a price that made it one of the best value middleweights Suzuki ever sold. The survivors are worked on hard and cheaply, and the secondary air system is a standard early removal.

A K5 Engine Underneath
The GSR's motor is derived from the 2005 GSX-R750, which is why it revs the way it does and why owners take it seriously despite the bike's modest reputation. It is also why a lot of GSX-R knowledge transfers directly, including where the secondary air hardware sits and how it comes off.
What Actually Changes
The crackle on a closed throttle mostly goes. On a naked inline four with an aftermarket can, that crackle is the loudest thing the bike does at town speeds, and a lot of riders assume it is the exhaust rather than air being injected into it. Whether losing it is an improvement depends entirely on why the exhaust went on.
An Ageing Middleweight
These are now a decade old and kept running on a budget. The reed valves themselves are a wear item — thin flaps working in a hot, dirty environment eventually stick — so removing the system deletes a future job rather than deferring it.
