The JP ES 016 exists because the Streetfighter V2 S 890 watches its plate lamp for current draw, and a modern LED unit simply does not draw enough to satisfy it.

A Hundred and Seventy-Eight Kilograms

A Circuit of Its Own
The plate lamp is watched separately from the tail light, so a bike that keeps its rear light still reports a fault when the hanger goes.
Two Warnings, Two Parts
A full rear conversion needs the tail light answered as well. Buying one and expecting the panel to clear is a common and understandable mistake.
Not a Weight Saving
The lamp weighs nothing. This part exists so that a cosmetic change does not leave a permanent warning on the dashboard.
A Track Day Requirement
Organisers want lights taped or removed and plates gone. Answering the circuits properly is what stops the dashboard arguing about it.

Why the Warning Surprises People
Nobody expects a small bulb behind a number plate to be electrically supervised. It is among the least intuitive fault messages a modern motorcycle produces.
What a Tail Tidy Does to It
Most aftermarket plate brackets either come with a small LED lamp or come with nothing at all. Both draw far less than the original filament unit, and both therefore look identical to a burnt-out bulb from the controller's point of view. The warning that follows is the commonest reason anybody goes looking for a part like this.
What the Load Actually Is
The circuit expects the current a small filament lamp draws, which is a fraction of an amp rather than anything dramatic. That is why the eliminator is a small sealed body rather than a heatsink, and why mounting it sensibly is a matter of tidiness rather than of thermal management.
