Track Day Regular
The R is the version that appears at circuits, because the suspension makes the exercise worthwhile rather than merely survivable.
A Higher Seat
Slightly taller than the standard bike as a consequence of the suspension, which suits taller riders and rules out a few shorter ones.
The Roll-Over Valve
Part of the same plumbing, intended to stop fuel escaping if the bike goes over. It leaves with everything else and the vent fitting takes over its job.
No Performance Claim
Removing evaporative control does not free power, sharpen throttle response or improve consumption. Anybody promising otherwise has misunderstood the system.

The Inspection Question
Where periodic testing includes a visual check of emissions equipment, an absent canister is a straightforward failure. Keeping the parts makes the refit an evening rather than a parts order and a delay.
Look Before You Buy the Kit
Not every machine in every market carries the assembly. Lifting the seat and following the hoses takes five minutes and prevents an unnecessary order.
On a Naked Triumph
The area behind the engine is visible from beside the machine, and a plastic vessel with three hoses running to it is the least attractive thing anywhere on an otherwise well-finished motorcycle.
On a Bike With Panniers
Frames, brackets and the vessel all compete for the same volume, and something usually has to be persuaded. Removing the canister ends the argument.
Still Being Raced
Club grids continue to feature these a decade after production ended, because the chassis is good, the engine is durable and the parts are still available. Very few middleweights of any generation have stayed competitive that long.
