Check the Year Before Ordering
Aprilia reorganised this plumbing for 2025, and the two arrangements are not interchangeable. A bike built before the update takes this kit and a later one needs the other part number.
Why the Vessel Exists
Regulations require that petrol vapour from the tank be captured rather than vented, so a charcoal bed holds it and a solenoid later meters it into the intake. None of that is visible or audible from the saddle.
The Most Contested Space on the Bike
The vessel sits alongside the shock reservoir, the linkage and the exhaust hanger. On a motorcycle this compact those four components are competing for an area smaller than a shoebox.
Suspension Setup Stops Being a Chore
Reaching the rear adjusters on a standard bike means working past the canister with a short tool and no view. With it gone the job takes a fraction of the time, which matters at a circuit between sessions.
Equalising Without It
The tank still has to breathe and the kit supplies the fitting that lets it do so cleanly. An open hose tucked behind the swingarm is not the same thing and behaves badly the first time the bike travels on its side.
The Solenoid Is Watched
Its circuit is monitored electrically on European specification, so simply unplugging it writes a fault into memory. Closing the circuit correctly leaves nothing for a later diagnostic session to find.
A Hundred Horsepower in 183 Kilograms
The RS 660 is quick because of what it weighs rather than what it makes, and mass carried high behind the engine works hardest against that. A kilogram and a half from there is worth more than the same weight low down.
What Overfilling Does
Liquid fuel forced into the charcoal ruins the bed permanently, and the symptoms are hard starting and a rough idle rather than anything that points at the cause. Owners chase it through the fuelling for weeks.
Nothing Permanent
Vessel, bracket and hoses all refit in their original positions with nothing cut anywhere.
Competition Use
Evaporative control is part of the type approval and removing it ends road legality across Europe.
