A Small Bike With a Full System
Emissions rules do not scale with capacity. The 457 carries the same charcoal vessel, purge valve and hose set that a much larger motorcycle does.
Which Is the Problem
On a light bike the assembly is a larger proportion of the whole, and there is far less room behind the engine to put it in.
The Roll-Over Valve
Part of the same plumbing, intended to stop fuel escaping if the bike goes over. On a track machine it is one more component in a crowded space.
Vented Properly
The tank still has to breathe. This kit provides the correct fitting rather than leaving a hose to find its own way, which is what improvised removals amount to.
The Purge Circuit
Monitored electrically on European bikes. Unplugging the valve alone stores a fault, so the circuit is closed rather than abandoned.
A Hundred and Seventy-Five Kilograms
Wet, with fuel. The RS 457 is light enough that its power figure understates it considerably, particularly on a tight circuit.
Three Ride Modes
Throttle response and traction control change together. On a first sports bike a wet setting that genuinely helps is worth more than any peak figure.
Access Afterwards
Shock, linkage and exhaust hanger all become reachable without removing anything else first.
Reversible
The canister refits on its own bracket with its own hoses. Nothing is cut and nothing is consumed.
Road Legality
Removing evaporative control ends type approval. This belongs on a motorcycle used at circuits.
An Aluminium Frame
Almost nothing at this price uses one, and Aprilia spent the money there rather than on a longer specification list. It is the reason the 457 handles like a considerably more expensive motorcycle and the reason riders moving up from one find the step smaller than expected.
