Unlike most motorcycles in this range, the XDiavel heel guards come as a pair — and on a forward-control cruiser they earn it. Both feet sit ahead of the frame rather than behind it, so both sides see the same repeated boot contact in the same place, ride after ride.

Forward Controls, Symmetrical Wear
On a sportbike, heel contact is occasional and one-sided; most manufacturers fit a guard on one side only for exactly that reason. The XDiavel's riding position changes the geometry entirely. Feet forward means the heel rests naturally against the frame on both sides at every stop and through every low-speed manoeuvre, and the wear pattern that follows is symmetrical.
The corollary is that both guards will wear at the same rate. Order them in a finish you are happy to see scuffed: satin and matt hide it far better than a clear coat, and raw is unavailable on this particular part.

Two-Up Changes the Calculation
On a solo XDiavel the heel guards are a slow-burn investment: the wear they prevent takes seasons to appear. With a passenger aboard regularly, the timeline shortens considerably, because a pillion's boots find the same area from a different angle and with less awareness of what is underneath them.
If the motorcycle carries a passenger more than occasionally, these are among the first parts worth fitting rather than among the last. They are also the cheapest way to keep the frame finish presentable, which matters more at resale on a cruiser than on a track-focused machine.
