DescriptionThe whole story▼
The first ride of the year rarely goes to plan. A bike that has stood since November comes out to a cold road, a damp morning and an owner whose own inputs are as rusty as anything on the machine. For a Ducati Streetfighter 848 S of the 2012 to 2015 seasons, Accossato lists the AGPA106 front pad, and in the Sintered material it is catalogued as AGPA106ST. The factory credits that compound with a high, constant level of grip at high and low temperatures alike, and with keeping its hold on a wet rotor.
Key Features
- Front brake pads for the Ducati Streetfighter 848 S, model years 2012 to 2015
- AGPA106ST: the AGPA106 carrier with the Sintered friction material
- Accossato states an even grip level whether the rotor is cold, hot or wet
- For machines used across the seasons rather than on selected days
- One box equips one caliper; count the calipers on your own front wheel
- The same carrier is also pressed in EV1, EV2 and ZXC
- Two pads per box, replaced as a pair on each side
- No German ABE on file, so the pads are supplied for competition
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato is claiming an absence of surprises rather than a peak figure. A rotor at the temperature of a February garage and the same rotor after an hour of quick riding are meant to give the rider the same relationship between finger pressure and speed lost, with a wet surface folded into that promise instead of excused from it. Carrying the material is the standard AGPA106 plate, unaltered across the suffixes of the article, so the compound can be chosen on behaviour alone and the caliper will not know the difference at fitting time.
The First Stop of the Day
Riders talk about the last lap and forget the first stop, which is where most of the ordinary risk actually lives. A Streetfighter 848 S rolling out of a cold garage has a rotor near freezing, tyres that are hard, and a rider whose calibration has faded over a winter. The junction at the end of the road is the moment all three get tested at once. A material that behaves the same when nothing is warm takes one of those three variables out of the equation, which is a modest benefit right up to the morning it is not.
Coming out of storage is also the time to check what winter did. Brake fluid absorbs water quietly over years, so a machine that has sat deserves a proper look at the reservoir rather than a glance. Turn the wheel and listen for a caliper that is binding, clean the pistons before pushing them back, and inspect the rotor faces for corrosion at the edges. Once a new set is in, bed it on a quiet road and give the Streetfighter 848 S a handful of unhurried stops before it meets traffic.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the AGPA106 against the front of the Streetfighter 848 S for 2012 to 2015. The rear of the same motorcycle takes the AGPA42, and that rear article is shared with the standard Streetfighter 848 even though the two bikes are given different front numbers. No rotor is listed against this model in Accossato's disc programme, so a rider replacing discs will need to look elsewhere for them.
Road Approval
We hold neither an ABE nor a German test report for the AGPA106ST. The article is therefore offered for racing and closed-course use and not for a motorcycle in road registration.
Scope of Delivery
Two AGPA106 pads in the Sintered material in one box, which is the set a single caliper takes. Order one box per caliper so both sides of the axle can be renewed together.
