DescriptionThe whole story▼
Enduro loops in hilly country often cross bare rock, and after a shower those slabs turn as slick as ice. The Husqvarna FE 250, a light four-stroke enduro bike, is well suited to that kind of ground, but even on a light machine the front brake needs great care when the tyre is on wet stone. Accossato's B8283, a folding brake lever for the FE 250 of 2014 to 2017, is machined in Italy from Ergal 7075. Its short blade suits a three-finger grip, and a joint lets it tip forward if the front slips away.

Construction and Material Quality
Enduro riders count grams and worry about breakages, often in the same breath, and Accossato's material choice speaks to both. The B8283 is CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, with the aim of making it strong, light and reliable. It is assembled from a dark base, which sits on the pivot of the FE 250's original master cylinder, and a blade in black, blue or orange that connects to the base at the folding joint. On the brake side the blade is kept short, for three fingers.
Wet Rock, Light Fingers
Rock slabs reward patience. Riders who cross them quickly and safely tend to set their speed before the tyres reach the stone, then roll across with the bike upright, the rear brake used gently if at all and the front brake only brushed. Grip on wet rock can vanish without warning, especially where moss or mud has been carried on to it by earlier riders, so any braking on the slab itself has to be progressive and light. On the FE 250 that means a front brake applied with a feather touch rather than a squeeze.
Sometimes the slab wins anyway. The front wheel steps sideways, the rider cannot get a foot down in time, and the bike slides on to its side, often coming to rest against a rock edge. If the right side is underneath, the brake lever takes the knock, and against stone a conventional blade has little chance. With the B8283, the joint can let the blade fold forward instead of breaking, which leaves a fair chance that the lever still works when the Husqvarna is back on its wheels. It will not always be spared, but on a long loop far from the paddock it can be the difference between riding back and pushing.
Fitment and Compatibility
In Accossato's list the B8283 covers the Husqvarna FE 250 in two version groups, 2014 to 2016 and 2017, and fits the original front brake master cylinder in place of the stock lever. There are two Accossato clutch levers for this bike: the C7283 for the first three of those years and the C7284 for 2017 alone. The C7283 is available in red as well as black, blue and orange; this brake lever and the C7284 come in black, blue or orange.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the B8283. The FE 250 is often registered for the road, but with this lever fitted it is not approved for public roads; the lever is meant for off-road use and competition.
