DescriptionThe whole story▼
When the Dorsoduro grew into the 900 for 2017, it kept what made the name: a tall supermoto stance, a wide bar and a V-twin that loves tight roads. Some owners take that one step further and book an evening on a kart circuit, where corners arrive so quickly that the front brake hardly rests between them. The Accossato EDF023 is a machined aluminium brake lever for the Dorsoduro 900, listed from 2017 to 2021, that works with the original master cylinder and can be set for reach and length.
Key Features
- Brake lever for the Aprilia Dorsoduro 900, model years 2017 to 2021
- Replaces the stock lever at the original master cylinder
- Adjustable distance between blade and grip
- Short blade for two-finger braking in five colours
- Standard length approximately 138 mm; long blade in blue, gold, green and orange
- CNC-machined, anodised aluminium; hub always black
- Fixed blade without a folding joint
- Offered for track use; no German ABE documented
Construction and Material Quality
Kart-track sessions are short and intense, and the lever takes a firm squeeze many times a minute. The EDF023 is milled from solid aluminium on CNC machines, so the material is continuous from the hub to the end of the blade, with no hinge that could loosen as the evening goes on. Anodising colours the aluminium and gives it a hard surface. The hub, carrying pivot and reach adjuster, is always finished in black, while the blade comes in black, blue, red, orange, gold, silver or green.
A Braking Zone Every Few Seconds
On a kart circuit a lap can last well under a minute, and almost every corner begins with a stop. The brake is used so often that small inefficiencies add up: a lever sitting slightly too far away costs a stretch at every turn, and by the end of a session the forearm notices. That is why the reach deserves attention before the first run. With the blade close enough for your fingers to wrap it at the first joint, each squeeze starts early and the hand can stay relaxed between corners.
Most riders on a tight track brake with one or two fingers and keep the rest of the hand on the throttle, because the next opening of the throttle is only a moment away. The short EDF023, in blue, gold, green, orange or silver, supports that style and leaves the outer fingers undisturbed on the grip. For the ride home and for longer road trips on the Dorsoduro 900, the standard blade of about 138 mm, made in every colour, is the closest match to the original lever. Between sessions, give the brakes time to cool and make sure the lever has its usual feel before heading out again.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the EDF023 for the Dorsoduro 900 from 2017 to 2021, mounted on the original front master cylinder. The clutch counterpart, the ESC023, carries a slightly shorter listing for this bike, 2017 to 2020, so owners of a 2021 Dorsoduro 900 will find this brake lever in the range but no Accossato clutch lever for their year. The same EDF023 also appears for the Shiver 900, the naked sister model.
Road Approval
The EDF023 has no German ABE on record, so it is sold for track use rather than for the road.
