DescriptionThe whole story▼
Titanium grey with camel is the quietest Groovy and the one that reads most like a considered object rather than a period costume. Grey and tan is the least demanding colour pairing on this shelf.
A Sixties silhouette on a 2026 shell
🔵 The detail that makes this helmet read as old is the absence of things: no external vent sliders, no spoiler, no adjusters, no visor mechanism on the shell. A jet from 1965 had none of those, and neither does this.
What it has instead is a six-layer X-Matrix2 shell in three sizes and a current European approval.
About the Groovy Titanium Camel finish
Grey does the same job here that it does everywhere else on a helmet — it sits at the value where city road film and dust show least, and it is meaningfully more visible in flat light than black — but the camel trim is what stops it reading as anonymous. That combination suits a helmet worn daily with ordinary clothing rather than with a riding suit, which is what most X.G30 owners are actually doing. 🔵 The trim is the part that shows wear first on any trimmed version. On a daily helmet, expect the camel to darken with skin contact within a season or two.
Six layers, three shells
Three outer shell sizes on a jet matters more than on a full-face, because an open-face is read as a shape on your head with no chin bar to disguise the proportions. XS–M, L and XL–XXL each get their own shell.
The material is six-layer X-Matrix2 multi-composite at 1320 g ±50.
What an open-face helmet does and does not do
The honest paragraph. This helmet protects the skull; it does not protect the face. No certification changes what is physically absent, and no amount of shell engineering compensates for a missing chin bar.
🔵 If chin coverage matters to you, buy a full-face. We would rather say that than sell you the wrong helmet because the styling appealed.
The dark sun visor — and the clear one that is not there
The sun visor is operated by a fine grip on the edge of the lens rather than a shell-mounted slider — a deliberate choice that keeps the dome uninterrupted, which is the whole point of a retro shell.
🔵 It also means you reach across your field of view to deploy it. Practise once before doing it in traffic. And note the shield is dark, not clear.
| External visor | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Clear | year-round use, night and rain — 🔴 not supplied with the helmet |
| 60 % tint | bright days without committing to full darkness |
| 80 % tint | strong summer sun — daylight only |
| Iridium red / green | mirrored, cuts glare — daylight only |
| Yellow HD | lifts contrast in flat, overcast and dusk light |
Interior, X-Mart Dry and the Ergo Padding System
Anti-allergic treatment on the liner is not marketing on a helmet worn daily. A liner that has absorbed sweat for two summers is where skin irritation starts, and the treatment slows that considerably.
🔵 All of it comes out by hand for washing, including the chin-strap covers.
The double-D ring
The choice of a double-D over a micrometric ratchet is deliberate rather than nostalgic. A ratchet is quicker and workable in gloves, which is why Nexx uses one on its touring helmets; a double-D has nothing to wear out, which is why it is on every helmet in the X.Garage line.
🔵 On a helmet you take on and off ten times a day, the ratchet's convenience is real. This is the other trade.
1320 grams, and the rest of the honest list
An open-face is loud at speed and there is no engineering fix for it — turbulence reaches your ears directly, and this helmet has no visor sealing the front unless you buy one.
🔵 Below about 60 km/h that barely matters. On a fast road it does, and earplugs are worth having.
Where it sits in Nexx's range
Within the X.G30 range the price ladder is almost entirely paint. The Purist at 159 € and the trimmed Groovy and Svelto versions at 231 € share the same shell, the same three sizes, the same shield and the same double-D ring.
🔵 Only the Noiré Carbon changes the specification — a lighter shell at 1220 g.
Accessories and spare parts
Complete replacement linings in camel-black and black mean the trim colour is changeable rather than fixed. That is unusual and genuinely useful on a helmet whose appearance depends so heavily on the edging around the face opening.
🔵 It also means a worn interior is a part rather than a reason to replace the helmet.
