DescriptionThe whole story▼
Light blue and pink over white is the least conventional colourway Nexx offers on this helmet, and it is worth saying plainly that it works — the two pastels sit in the same value range, so the graphic reads as one design rather than as two competing halves.
Three modes in one shell
🔵 The mode you ride in should follow the surface, not the look. A peaked helmet at sustained motorway speed is louder and more tiring than a peakless one, measurably so; a peakless helmet on a dusty trail behind another rider is worse in a different way.
The X.RALLY changes between the two in about a minute.
| Mode | Peak | Eye protection | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dual-Sport | fitted | Recoil visor | mixed days, low sun, spray |
| Off-Road | fitted | goggles (not supplied) | trail and enduro, maximum airflow |
| On-Road | removed | Recoil visor | motorway transfers — the quietest setting |
About the Raid Blue Pink graphic
Pastels behave differently on a helmet than saturated colours do. They keep a high overall value, which means good conspicuity in flat light, without the visual weight that makes a bright helmet dominate everything the rider is wearing. On a large adventure bike that balance is often what people are actually looking for. It is also the colourway most likely to still be available secondhand in the size you want, because fewer people buy it — which cuts both ways. 🔵 Pale finishes show trail spray and road film sooner than dark ones; this one will need washing after a wet day.
The X-PRO Carbon shell and the X-Foam bumpers
Four homologations on one shell — ECE 22-06, DOT FMVSS 218, CCC GB811:2022, NBR7471:2015 — is more than most helmets carry, and it reflects a helmet designed for markets where riders cross borders.
The construction is X-PRO Carbon, claimed 1350 g, with an X-Foam EPP bumper layer over the lower shell and chin.
| Shell | Construction | Weight (Nexx) | Decors | From |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| X-Matrix2 | six-layer fibreglass composite | 1475 g | Plain, YUMA | 399,99 € |
| X-PRO Carbon | carbon fibre | 1350 g (1553 g measured, size M) | PRO Carbon, Raid, Gravix, Zero Pro, Namib, FIM Racing #2 | 559,99 € |
The Recoil visor, and the two shields in the box
🔵 The photochromic shield and the Pinlock lens are alternatives rather than a pair. Photochromic visors do not accept Pinlock inserts, so you are choosing between self-darkening and anti-fog on any given ride.
For northern European winters, the clear visor with its fitted Pinlock lens is the right default. For a summer trip south, the photochromic.
Nine intakes — and two tests that disagree about them
The vents on this helmet are large and physically obvious, which is a design decision rather than an accident — on an off-road helmet, an intake that can be found and operated in gloves matters more than one that is aerodynamically neat.
🔵 The system: 9 intakes, 6 exhausts, cheek-pad ventilation, Air Cumbs chamber, winter chin vent. Independent verdicts on its effect are split between 2/5 measured and open-face-like in a road test.
How loud it actually is
🔵 Do not compare decibel figures across different publications. Measurement method, speed, motorcycle and screen all change the number, and there is no standard for helmet noise testing.
The X.RALLY's 103 dB and 3/5 score come from a single independent road test and are useful mainly against that test's other results.
Interior, hydration routing and fit
Dust is the enemy of an off-road helmet's interior, and the 3D-mesh liner is built specifically around it — open enough to breathe, dense enough to keep sand off the skin. It is the compromise a road helmet never has to make.
🔵 Everything is removable and washable, including the chin-strap covers.
1350 grams claimed, 1553 measured
🔵 If you are comparing this against another carbon adventure helmet, compare measured figures against measured figures. Published weights across the industry are quoted inconsistently, and this helmet is a clear example of the gap.
Claimed: 1350 g. Independently weighed in size M: 1553 g.
Where it sits — and who should buy something else
🔵 Worth checking before you buy any adventure helmet: which approvals it holds, whether it has been independently tested, and whether the anti-fog lens is included. The X.RALLY answers those three as four approvals, no independent rating, and lens fitted from new.
The FIM Racing version adds a fifth homologation, FRHPhe-02.
Intercom, camera mounts and spare parts
Everything on this helmet that projects — peak, visor, camera mounts — is designed to be removed or replaced, which is the correct approach for a helmet that will be dropped, packed and knocked against things.
🔵 The camera kit and intercom are optional; the peak and both visors come with the helmet.
