DescriptionThe whole story▼
White is the most rational finish on an adventure helmet used in heat, because so much of the riding happens at speeds too low for airflow to help — and a pale shell reflects the solar load a dark one converts into interior temperature.
Versatile in two directions — and what the peak costs
🔵 Two mechanisms, two weight penalties. A flip-up carries 150–250 g more than a fixed full-face in hinge, seal and reinforcement; an adventure peak adds more again, plus the aerodynamic load of holding a wing above your head.
The X.LIFECOUNTRY has both. That is the honest framing of what it is.
🔵 The screwless extensor is the accessory most owners never unpack. It clips on without tools and extends the peak for riding into low sun — the one condition where a peak genuinely earns its place on a road-biased helmet.
The peak itself is adjustable for angle and removes entirely for road-only days.
About the white finish
The thermal argument is stronger on this helmet than on most, because a flip-up is a sealed, insulated object by design: the Silent Travel Seal and the anti-noise padding that make it quiet also make it warm at a standstill. Shell colour is the one variable you control that changes solar load directly. There is a conspicuity argument alongside it — on unfamiliar roads among drivers not expecting motorcycles, a pale helmet at head height is resolved measurably sooner. 🔵 The cost is dirt, and this helmet gets genuinely dirty rather than merely dusty.
P/J homologation and the Super Locker chin bar
🔵 „P" is the full-face protective category and „J" the open-face one. Holding both means the helmet was tested and approved in both configurations — which on an adventure trip matters at every border queue, fuel stop and photograph.
The chin-bar release carries a safety mechanism against accidental opening.
The X-Matrix2 shell
X-Matrix2 is Nexx's multiaxial fibreglass multi-composite rather than plain glass. Two outer shell sizes cover XS to XXXL — fewer than the three used on their fixed full-face helmets, because a flip-up's hinge and seal limit how much the shell can be scaled.
Claimed weight is around 1800 g ±50; the carbon shell is quoted at 1650 g.
2042 grams — the number to weigh
🔵 Weight scored 1/5 in independent testing, on a measured 2042 g kitted. That is the single worst score any Nexx helmet has received in any category, and it is the honest headline for this model.
The composite shell you are looking at is quoted 150 g above the carbon one that was weighed.
X-Sensus Vision, X-SWIFT and two visors
🔵 Standing on the pegs raises your eye line relative to the aperture, which is where a shallow eye port becomes obvious immediately. A 15 % larger opening is worth more on this helmet than on a road one for exactly that reason.
The visor is Pinlock-equipped from the factory and changes without tools.
Two closable intakes and the Mid Airflow Chamber
🔵 Closable intakes are what make this a year-round helmet rather than a summer one. A helmet that ventilates permanently is unpleasant in a northern winter, and a great many adventure helmets are exactly that.
Both intakes shut completely. Independent testing scored the airflow 4/5.
101 decibels — and what the peak costs
🔵 The acoustic hardware here is the same as on Nexx's touring flip-up: the Silent Travel Seal, a double rubber seal around the visor and chin closure, plus anti-noise cheek pads and neck roll.
What differs is the peak, and the measured result reflects it: 101 dB against the X.LIFETOUR's 96 dB.
Morpho-Fit interior and F.R.S.
🔵 The head shape is intermediate-to-round oval, which suits riders that long-oval shells pinch at the forehead. It is a different shape from Nexx's touring flip-up, so do not assume one fits because the other did.
Comfort scored 3/5 — adequate rather than exceptional, which on a helmet this heavy is not surprising.
Where it sits in Nexx's range
🔵 The clearest comparison in Nexx's range. Same shell platform, same seals, same visor system, same P/J chin bar. The X.LIFETOUR has no peak, measures 96 dB and holds 3 SHARP stars. This one has a peak, measures 101 dB and has no SHARP rating.
The peak is the entire difference, and it is worth being deliberate about whether you need it.
Comms, cameras and spare parts
🔵 Two camera mounts is genuinely useful on an adventure helmet. The top mount gives the forward view; the side mount gives a perspective that includes the rider's hands and the front wheel — the angle that actually shows what a trail is like.
Both are built into the shell rather than sold as adhesive kits.

“At 2,042 g measured this is the heaviest helmet in our entire range — nearly 700 g more than the X.RALLY carbon. Add ventilation that Bennetts call disappointing for an adventure helmet and the case gets hard to make, clever flip front or not.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06 with dual homologation — full-face and open.
X-Matrix 2 shell in two sizes.
Peak fitted and removable; no goggle conversion.
Disappointing for the category, by Bennetts' account.
Quieter than most, thanks to a tight neck seal.
Comfortable but plainer than the carbon version.
Sun visor, flip front and peak in one helmet.
2,042 g measured — the heaviest helmet we sell.
The adventure flip front, in its heaviest form.
