DescriptionThe whole story▼
Please note: sale to France is prohibited.
TC-1 is the red Invigorate and the most traditional-looking of the five. Red on an adventure helmet reads as sporting rather than as expeditionary, and for riders whose adventure bike is mostly a fast road bike that is the correct signal.
Peak and visor — what an adventure helmet is for
The peak is removable, and a good number of owners take it off for long road sections and refit it for the interesting parts. That is exactly the flexibility the design is aiming at, and it takes about a minute.
🔵 Without the peak the helmet is quieter and generates less lift at speed. With it, you get shade, spray deflection and the look the bike was designed around.
About the Invigorate TC-1 graphic
It is worth being honest that not every adventure bike goes off-road, and a great many are bought as comfortable, upright, long-legged road motorcycles. A red helmet suits that use precisely because it does not pretend otherwise — it belongs on tarmac. Red is also a high-saturation colour that holds up well against grey road surfaces, which puts it among the more conspicuous options here without going fluorescent. The known weakness is UV: red pigment fades faster than most, and a helmet stored on a bike in the sun will lose depth within a couple of seasons. Keep it in the bag. 🔵 The graphic costs more than a solid, and a stone chip through a printed layer cannot be touched in the way a solid can.
AIM+, four shells, double-D and EQRS
Shoei does not use a single polystyrene density throughout. The core here is assembled from elements with differing absorption characteristics, positioned so an impact is distributed across a wider area than a uniform block would manage.
Outside it: AIM+ in six fibre layers, across four outer shell sizes, with double-D retention and EQRS emergency release.
The CNS-2 visor and the Pinlock lens in the box
Anti-fog on an adventure helmet is not a winter accessory, it is year-round equipment. Altitude, rain, river crossings, early starts and the slow technical riding in between all produce the conditions a bare visor mists in.
Shoei includes the Pinlock EVO lens rather than charging for it. 🔵 When it eventually clouds, order DKS302 — the lens for the CNS-2 visor.
Ventilation — and why we do not quote a vent count
What ventilation actually manages is humidity rather than temperature. Sweat that cannot evaporate stays in the padding, and a saturated liner is what makes a long day uncomfortable well before heat does — which is why extraction matters more than intake area.
🔵 The Hornet ADV 06's outlets sit at the rear and neck. The published counts vary between four and six depending on the source, and none has been independently verified.
Peak, spoiler and lift at road speed
Two features on this shell exist purely for road speed, which tells you something about the intended use. The perforated peak and the integrated rear spoiler are both about behaviour at 100 km/h and above — irrelevant on a trail, decisive on a three-hour transfer.
🔵 Shoei states both are intended to reduce lift. That is a design claim; no independent road test of the 06 generation has been published.
Four cheek pad thicknesses, removable ear pads, intercom prep
Fit matters more on a helmet used off the road, because a helmet that shifts on a rough section will also shift your line of sight at the worst moment. It should not be possible to rotate the helmet on your head by hand.
🔵 If it is, thicker cheek pads are the answer — the range runs 31, 35, 39 and 43 mm. The ear pads come out separately for intercom speakers.
What is documented and what is not
🔵 A note on the vent count, because you will see it stated confidently. MCN and Visordown say four intakes and four exhausts; Moto Magazine says four and six; Shoei's own page counts six outlets at the rear and neck. Nobody has verified any of them.
Alongside that: no SHARP rating exists for the Hornet ADV in either generation, and no independent road test of the 06 has been published.
Where it sits in Shoei's range
The price ladder below reads as a ladder of intent rather than of quality. Every helmet on it is built to the same manufacturing standard; what changes is the job and the equipment that job needs.
The Hornet ADV 06 sits where it does because an adventure helmet needs a high shell grade, a visor and a peak — more of everything than most.
| Model | Type |

When something wears out
Genuine parts matter more on a helmet than on most things, because the visor, the peak and the retention system are all part of what was certified to ECE 22.06. A pattern peak that does not behave as designed is a different helmet from the approved one.
Everything we stock for the Hornet ADV 06 is Shoei's own.
