The same 6K weave under gloss rather than satin, which is the finish that makes carbon look like carbon rather than like very dark grey plastic.

A carbon shell in six sizes

🔵 Be clear-eyed about what carbon buys here. The composite Vector II weighs 1500 g and costs about 100 € less. Carbon saves 100 g.

What it also adds is the X-Static lining, which LS2 does not list for the composite version. What it loses is the SHARP rating — covered in the next section.

No rating of its own — and what does transfer from the composite

🔵 This is exactly the situation where a rating gets transferred by mistake: two shell materials sharing one model name, and the other one was tested.

Transferring the stars would misrepresent what was crashed. If SHARP ever tests the carbon shell separately we will update this page.

Airflow that reaches your head

🔵 The distinction that matters in helmet ventilation: intakes and exhausts move air into and out of a shell, while channels through the EPS move it across your scalp in between. Plenty of helmets have the first without the second.

The Vector II Carbon has both, on two intake paths.

About the gloss carbon finish

Gloss lacquer has a depth that a flat coat cannot produce. Light travels into the clear layer, catches the weave at slightly different angles across the curve of the shell, and gives the surface a movement that satin flattens out entirely. On a compact six-shell helmet there is a lot of curvature packed into a small area, so the effect is more concentrated here than it would be on a bulkier shell. It sits at the same 322 € as the matt version, so the choice between them is purely whether you want the material to be quiet or to be looked at. 🔵 Two care points, both more consequential on carbon than on paint. Gloss shows swirl marks if you dry-wipe it, so wash wet and dry with a clean soft cloth — and once they are in a clear coat they stay. And the lacquer is the ultraviolet barrier for the resin below: no abrasive polish, no solvents, and out of direct sun when the helmet is not being ridden. If you are choosing between the two plain carbon options, ask yourself how you will wash it. Gloss is the more impressive of the two in the flesh and the less forgiving of a dry cloth; matt asks nothing of you and shows the material only in raking light. Both cost 322 € and both are the same helmet.

Three visors, one helmet

🟢 The tinted visor is worth calling out. LS2 supplies a complete second screen rather than only the internal shield, and the quick-change system means it goes on in under a minute at the side of the road.

🔵 Remember what it is for: daylight. Most European jurisdictions bar tinted visors at night and in poor visibility.

Holding on, and letting go

🔵 A metal fastener rather than a moulded one is a small specification that shows over years. It is the component you operate several times a day for the life of the helmet, and metal does not fatigue the way plastic does.

It works in gloves, without looking.

The part you actually touch

🟢 X-Static and 100 grams are what carbon buys you here, alongside shell stiffness. LS2 lists the silver antibacterial treatment for this version and not for the HPFC composite.

🔵 It slows rather than prevents the smell every used helmet develops. What actually prevents it is washing the lining, which takes two minutes.

Carbon or composite — which Vector II to buy

🔵 Put plainly: carbon here buys stiffness, an X-Static lining and 100 grams. It does not buy a better test result, because there is no test result.

🟢 If that trade appeals, this is an exceptionally well-specified full-face. If it does not, the composite version is cheaper and independently rated.

Care and replacement parts

🔵 Never clean a carbon shell with solvent, petrol or alcohol. The lacquer over the weave is the ultraviolet barrier for the resin beneath, and once it is attacked the damage is invisible at first and structural later.

Warm water and a soft cloth is the whole procedure.
