Track-Honed Construction
The Vortex GL is pre-curved at the fingers so the hand sits in its natural riding position the moment you close your fist around the grip. Stretch panels positioned across the knuckle and between the fingers allow free movement without introducing looseness — a balance that matters enormously when fine throttle modulation separates a clean exit from a slide.
A mesh inner lining wicks moisture away from the skin, while a pull-loop at the cuff makes getting the glove on a one-handed operation when you are already suited up in the pits. The part-elastic wrist band works with the double Velcro closure to lock the glove securely against the cuff of your jacket with no twisting or slipping under braking.
Materials and Protection Detail
IXON has used goatskin throughout — a hide chosen by racing glove makers for its combination of thinness, tensile strength and natural grip. The palm panel is further reinforced with Pittards leather along the outer edge, the area most exposed in a low-side slide. TPR palm sliders allow controlled movement across the tarmac rather than snagging, reducing the rotational forces transmitted to the wrist. Overmoulded TPR finger protectors shield each digit, and a TPR element at the cuff completes the external guard layer. It is neither waterproof nor insulated, and that is a deliberate engineering decision — every gram of material that would add bulk or trap heat has been replaced by ventilation. Perforated leather sections, open mesh zones and airflow channels at the fingers and palm work together to move warm air out and draw cooler air in.
