Every other listing for this element carries a caveat somewhere in it. This one does not need one. The Kove 800 X Pro and the Rally were drawn around rally-raid use, where the air is a suspension of dust for hours at a stretch and the machine is opened up at the end of every day, and the T12 was drawn for precisely that: extreme conditions and loose ground. One part number covers both versions. On this bike the usual question turns around — it is not whether the fine medium can be defended, but whether the coarse one can.
Key Features
- Dry polyester special non-woven, filtering to 7 microns, made for extreme conditions
- Rated flow 560 l/m²/sec — the strictest specification Sprint Filter publishes
- Contains no oil, so nothing is carried through into the intake tract
- Fits the standard airbox in place of the original panel, with no modification and no remap
- Roughly double the filtering surface of other performance elements
- Air-cleaned between stages, made to last the machine's life, with two years of guarantee
Where the strict end is the default
Dust is not one thing. The coarse part settles behind the machine that raised it; the fine part hangs, follows the rider and is small enough to walk straight through an open weave. On a rally-styled machine that fraction is not an occasional visitor but the working environment, and a medium closing at 7 microns is aimed exactly at it. The second reason has nothing to do with filtration: the mat is dry, so there is no oiling procedure to get wrong at the end of a long day, and nothing that can be lifted off the element and laid down on a sensor later.
The trade, stated anyway
Even where the argument is easy, the arithmetic should be visible. Against the standard P08's 80 microns and rated 5,050 l/m²/sec, this element gives 7 microns and 560 — about a ninth of the flow through the same area of material. That is what buys the retention, and it is why the two media are not ranked but chosen. If a particular 800 X spends most of its life commuting on tarmac and sees dirt a few weekends a year, the P08 is the more sensible balance for it. And on either medium the honest limit stands: an element inside the standard airbox does not make a standard machine noticeably more powerful, whatever else it does for it.
Care and cleaning
This is a filter meant to be cleaned often, which is half of why it works. Compressed air on the clean face, driven outward, returns the mat towards its original resistance; when a stage has loaded it beyond what air will lift, lukewarm water with a mild detergent and a thorough rinse finish the job. Drying is done in open air only, never with heat and never near a flame, and the PM188T12 is refitted dry and unoiled. The maintenance sheet is available in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Covers the Kove 800 X Pro and 800 X Rally of 2024 to 2026 in the standard airbox. Eleven machines from three manufacturers use the same element, including BMW's middleweight F range and the Voge Valico models; the Fitment tab has the whole list.
