DescriptionThe whole story▼
The XDiavel tail is short, upswept and does most of the work in making a long motorcycle look taut at the back. This set replaces its panels in carbon, and because the sections meet each other rather than a painted surface, it is one of the few places on the motorcycle where buying the whole assembly at once genuinely matters.
Key Features
- Multi-piece seat and tail assembly supplied together under one order code
- Five configurations across 200 Plain and 245 Twill weaves
- Panels meet each other directly, so weave direction and surface depth are matched across the set
- Uses the original fixings on the subframe
- Works visually with the side panel set MD-XD16-C36 and the seat cover MD-XD16-C67
Where Panels Meet Panels
Most carbon on a motorcycle borders paint or metal, and a slight variation in weave direction goes unnoticed. A tail assembly is different: its sections butt against one another along visible seams, and the eye follows the weave straight across the joint. If the twill runs at a different angle on one piece, that is not subtle.
Buying the set removes the problem. It also removes the second problem, which is that individual tail sections bought over time come from different production runs and can differ in surface depth even when the weave direction matches.
Fitment and Compatibility
Ducati XDiavel and XDiavel S, 2016 to 2024, on the original subframe mounting points. Allow time and fit everything loose before tightening anything — the seams are what people will look at.
Road Approval
No ABE and no EC type-approval is published by Fullsix. These are replacement body panels; confirm the position for your registration before road use.
Budget the Time, Not Just the Money
This is the most involved fitting job in the XDiavel range. Several panels have to be positioned relative to one another and to the subframe, and the seams between them are the surfaces people will look at. It is not difficult work, but it is not a job to start an hour before you want to ride.
Work with everything loose, set the seams before any fastener is torqued, and check the lines from a few metres back rather than from arm's length. A tail assembly that is right looks like it came that way; one that is slightly off looks aftermarket from across a car park.
