DescriptionThe whole story▼
Suzuki's DR-Z400S is a dual-sport that spends as much of its life on fire roads and green lanes as it does getting there on tarmac, and the footpegs on a bike built for pavement first rarely give a boot much to stand on once the ground turns rough. For the DR-Z400S built from 2000 to 2019, Accossato lists enlarged footpegs made of Ergal, aimed at motocross, enduro and off-road riding, available in orange, blue, black, red or gold.
Key Features
- Enlarged off-road footpegs for the Suzuki DR-Z400S, 2000 to 2019
- Made of Ergal, a high-strength aluminium alloy
- Broader platform for the boot than the standard pegs
- Designed by Accossato for motocross, enduro and off-road use
- Colour options: orange, blue, black, red or gold
- Supplied as a pair, one peg for each side
- Same part also listed for the Suzuki DR-Z400SM
- No German ABE on file; offered for competition use
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato catalogues this pair as enlarged footpegs for motocross, enduro and off-road motorcycles, made in Ergal, a high-strength aluminium alloy chosen for the job rather than a softer, cheaper metal. Enlarged, on Accossato's own list, means the standing surface runs wider than anything the DR-Z400S carries from the factory, giving a boot more width to settle on once the trail gets rough. Beyond the material and the five colour choices, orange, blue, black, red or gold, Accossato keeps the description to that single line and nothing further is stated about the finish.
Dual-Sport Riding Means Two Standing Styles
A DR-Z400S owner stands on the pegs for two quite different reasons depending on the terrain. On a fire road or gravel track at moderate speed, standing briefly over a rough patch is mostly about letting the legs absorb a bump instead of the spine. Drop onto a technical trail, though, and the DR-Z400S gets ridden standing for minutes at a stretch, weight shifting from peg to peg through ruts and over roots in a way a stock dual-sport footpeg was never really asked to support. The wider platform on these enlarged pegs helps in both situations, but it is on the second one, the slow, technical, all-day standing, that the extra width on the DR-Z400S is noticed most.
Fitment and Compatibility
The DR-Z400S appears on Accossato's own list across the full 2000 to 2019 run, which is the range carried into our listing without adjustment. These are the only Accossato footpegs catalogued for this machine, though the identical pair turns up again under the Suzuki DR-Z400SM elsewhere in our shop. Fitting calls for the pivot pin to be cleaned and lightly greased, with the original pin and spring reused if a check shows them sound, and once the DR-Z400S is back on its wheels, each peg should swing back up on its own and the rider controls should sit exactly where boots expect to find them.
Road Approval
We have no test report or approval document, such as a German ABE, for these footpegs, so we offer them for off-road and competition use on the DR-Z400S.
