DescriptionThe whole story▼

Sand washes are the dry riverbeds of desert racing: deep, soft and lined with whoops that grow with every bike that passes. On a KTM 350 XC-F the way through is to keep the front light and the rear driving, and the clutch helps to hold the engine where it pulls. Accossato's C7283 serves the 350 XC-F of 2011 to 2021 with a long, four-finger blade, and its hinge gives it a chance of surviving a fall in the sand.

Key Features

  • Folding clutch lever for the KTM 350 XC-F, 2011 to 2021
  • Listed for the 2011–2013 bikes and the 2014–2021 bikes
  • Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mount
  • Long blade for four fingers
  • Joint lets the blade fold forward on impact
  • CNC-machined from Ergal 7075 in Italy
  • Black, blue, orange or red blade
  • No German ABE documented; for off-road use

Construction and Material Quality

7075 belongs to the family of aluminium alloys with zinc as the main alloying element and is one of the strongest aluminium materials in everyday use. Accossato machines the C7283 from a solid piece of it in Italy, aiming for strength, low weight and reliability. The lever has a dark base on the clutch pivot and a blade in black, blue, orange or red, connected by a joint that lets the blade fold. The blade is long, as on all of Accossato's off-road clutch levers, and has room for four fingers.

Sand Washes and Whoops

Deep sand needs momentum. Slow down too much and the bike sinks, the front wheel ploughs and the engine labours. Riders on the 350 XC-F keep the revs up, choose a gear that lets the four-stroke pull and use the clutch to hold the engine in that range when the sand grabs the rear tyre. In the whoops, a quick slip of the clutch before a bump helps lift the front so it skims across the tops rather than dropping into each trough. It is busy work for the left hand, and four fingers share it more comfortably than two.

Sand is soft, but a fall in a wash is rarely gentle. The front digs in, the bike goes over sideways, and the clutch lever can find a stone hidden just beneath the surface or the hard edge of a bank. The C7283's joint allows the blade to fold forward, which improves its chances. It is not a guarantee, and sand in the joint is worth rinsing out after the race, but when the lever comes through, you can restart the KTM 350 XC-F and keep going instead of waiting for help.

Fitment and Compatibility

The C7283 fits the KTM 350 XC-F from 2011 to 2021 and covers both version groups on Accossato's list, 2011–2013 and 2014–2021, at the original clutch mount. On bikes from 2014 to 2021 the B8283 folding brake lever can be added on the right, while the three earlier model years have only this clutch lever. Black, blue and orange appear on both levers, red on the clutch lever only.

Road Approval

There is no German ABE documented for the C7283. It is supplied for off-road and competition riding.
