DescriptionThe whole story▼
Some of the hardest miles in enduro are covered at walking pace. A dry riverbed full of boulders, or a hillside strewn with rock, has to be picked through one stone at a time, and on a Husqvarna FE 350 that means working the clutch almost constantly. The C7283 is Accossato's folding clutch lever for the FE 350 of 2014 to 2016. It is made in Italy from solid Ergal 7075, has a long blade for four fingers and uses a joint that lets it fold when the bike is laid down among the rocks.

- Folding clutch lever for the Husqvarna FE 350, 2014 to 2016
- Fits the original clutch mount in place of the stock lever
- Long blade, laid out for four fingers
- Anti-break joint allows the blade to fold forward
- Machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Blade in black, blue, orange or red
- No German ABE documented; off-road and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
In 1985 Accossato won an enduro world title, and its off-road levers are made for the same kind of riding. The C7283 is CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, with the aim of combining strength, low weight and reliability. It is made in Italy and assembled from two parts: a dark base at the pivot and a blade in black, blue, orange or red. The joint between them lets the blade fold, and the blade itself is long, laid out for four fingers as on every Accossato clutch lever.
Rock by Rock
Trials riders would recognise the technique. The rider stands, looks two or three rocks ahead and lets the FE 350 idle forward, using the clutch to add a pulse of drive when the front tyre meets a stone and to cut it again before the rear wheel spins. A touch of rear brake stops the bike rolling back. The throttle hardly moves. The whole passage is controlled by the left hand, and a rider who can slip the clutch finely will get through with far less effort than one who relies on throttle and momentum.
Balance is lost now and again, and with nowhere flat to put a foot the bike goes over. Among boulders it seldom lands on soft ground: the clutch lever is likely to strike rock, sometimes with the bike's weight pinning it there. That is the kind of impact the C7283's joint is meant for. The blade can fold forward instead of snapping, and more often than not it can be flipped back and used straight away. In a boulder field, where losing the clutch would mean pushing a four-stroke over the rocks, that possibility is worth a lot, even though a folding lever cannot promise to survive every drop.
Fitment and Compatibility
The C7283 appears in Accossato's list for the Husqvarna FE 350 of 2014 to 2016 and replaces the lever at the original clutch control. For the 2017 and 2018 bikes Accossato names a different clutch lever, the C7284. The B8283 folding brake lever covers the FE 350 from 2014 to 2018. This clutch lever alone offers a red blade; black, blue and orange are common to all three.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for the C7283. On an FE 350 registered for the road, the lever is not approved for public roads; it is sold for off-road and competition use.
