DescriptionThe whole story▼
Rider training days are where many Speed Triple 1050 owners find out how much low-speed control a naked triple offers, and how easily a slow manoeuvre can end on the ground. Cone slaloms, full-lock turns and emergency stops on a closed area are exactly the exercises in which bikes tip over. The Accossato LV012 is a folding brake lever for the Speed Triple 1050, listed from 2010 to 2015. It mounts on the original master cylinder, has adjustable reach, and its blade is joined to a black base so that it can give way when the bike goes down.
Key Features
- Folding brake lever for the Triumph Speed Triple 1050, 2010 to 2015
- For the original front brake master cylinder
- Blade can fold at its joint when the lever hits the ground
- Adjustable span to the grip
- RST or NRST blade
- Blade colours: black, blue, gold, green, orange, red, silver
- CNC-machined aluminium, anodised, standard length
Construction and Material Quality
The lever divides into two machined parts. Its base, anodised black, fits the pivot of the Speed Triple's master cylinder and holds the reach adjuster. The blade is anodised in your colour and linked to the base by a folding joint. Both parts are CNC-machined from aluminium rather than cast, which keeps the dimensions at pivot and joint consistent from one lever to the next. Accossato offers the blade in one standard length, either with the RST cut-out, a slot that lightens it slightly, or in the plain NRST form.
Cones, Full Lock and an Empty Car Park
On a training course, the favourite exercises of most instructors happen below walking pace, or in hard braking from moderate speed. Full-lock turns inside a box of cones test clutch, throttle and rear brake at the same time, and one misjudged moment is enough for the Speed Triple 1050 to lean past its balance point. A right-hand turn that runs out of momentum ends with the bike on its right side and the brake lever first to touch the tarmac. A fixed blade may bend or snap there, and the rest of the day then depends on a borrowed part. The LV012's blade can fold instead, which reduces that risk. The adjuster helps with the emergency-stop drills too. Set the blade so that all four fingers reach it without stretching, and a quick, firm pull becomes easier to repeat. A training day is also a good occasion to try more than one setting, since changing the reach between exercises costs only a few seconds.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the LV012 for the Speed Triple 1050 of 2010 to 2015, on the original front master cylinder. For those years, the RA001 is the folding alternative with a 90-degree remote adjuster. Accossato's fixed EDF099 brake lever spans a longer period, 2010 to 2020, and on the clutch side the fixed EST333 (2005 to 2016) and EST333P (2016 to 2020) are listed for the Speed Triple 1050.
