Matt dark blue is the version that behaves most like a solid while still carrying the Soul graphic, and it is the best of the four at hiding what a trail-capable helmet collects.

One helmet, three configurations

The useful question is which configuration you will actually ride in most. If the answer is „peak and visor, almost always", MT's Track SV is a full-face dual-sport with a SHARP 4-star rating for 47 € more.

🔵 If the answer is „it depends on the day", the District SV S is the one that changes without buying a second helmet.

About the Soul C7 graphic

Deep blue is consistently under-chosen on helmets and it is the most practical coloured finish available. Fine trail dust reads as a grey haze against black and as an obvious film against pale colours; against navy it largely disappears, which on a helmet used off tarmac and washed occasionally rather than religiously matters over the whole ownership period. Under a matt finish it also absorbs the handling marks a convertible helmet accumulates from having its peak, vent caps and visor changed regularly. Deep colour under matt is genuinely harder to produce well than gloss — matt clear coat over a saturated base tends to go chalky, and dark blue is dark enough to avoid that. 🔵 Conspicuity sits above the black and below the white; matt is washed rather than polished. It is also the finish that works best with the peak fitted, where a dark shell and a dark peak read as one object rather than as a helmet with something attached to it.

HIRP, two shells and variable-density EPS

Full ECE 22.06 approval means the current schedule rather than the superseded 22.05: more impact points, higher test speeds, and a rotational-impact assessment the older standard did not include. DOT approval sits alongside it.

🔵 No independent safety rating exists for this helmet — SHARP's only MT entry is the unrelated Track SV.

The retractable sun visor

If you wear prescription glasses, a retractable shield is far more practical than prescription sunglasses or a tinted visor — it goes up and down without removing anything, which on a helmet you are already reconfiguring is one less thing to carry.

The clear visor — and the Pinlock that does not exist for it

Look after the visor and it will outlast the padding. Never wipe a dry visor — trail dust is far more abrasive than road film, and dragging it across the surface leaves permanent fine scratches that flare against oncoming headlights at night.

🔵 Wet it first, every time. With no Pinlock available, the visor's own condition is all you have.

Intakes, exhausts and the vent caps in the box

🔵 With the visor removed, ventilation stops being a question: the open aperture moves more air than any vent design. That configuration is the reason to own a convertible helmet in summer.

With the visor fitted and the caps in place, it becomes a reasonable cold-weather helmet instead.

The MT-MDTC closure

What a micrometric closure gives you over a simple buckle is fine adjustment. You are not choosing between two holes; you are setting the strap to the millimetre and clicking to the same place every time.

🔵 The double-teeth engagement is what makes that click mean something.

Interior, fit and washing

Washing the interior is the single most effective maintenance you can do, and on a trail-capable helmet it needs doing more often — dust works into padding in a way sweat alone does not.

🔵 All of it comes out by hand, and replacement pads are available if the fit loosens.

SportCam mount and intercom provision

The three things MT includes here that competitors usually charge for are the SportCam mount, the vent caps and the retractable sun visor. Together they are most of the reason this helmet reads as better value than its price.

🔵 The camera and the intercom are not included.

Where it sits in MT's range

🔵 MT's range is unusually consistent: almost everything is built on the HIRP platform, with the carbon KRE+ S as the single exception. What changes between models is the body type and the equipment rather than the construction.

The District SV S is the only convertible in that range.

When something wears out

🔵 A word on visor care, because with no Pinlock available the visor's condition is all the optical performance you have. Never wipe a dry visor — trail dust is abrasive and leaves permanent fine scratches that flare against headlights.

Wet it first, every time, and replace it when it is badly marked.
